SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The "Angel of Tahoe" Lisa Maloff and her loyal friend and caretaker Ricky Reich have once again helped out the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) by donating $10,000 to cover the purchase of two new K9 ballistic vests.
Over the past several years, Ms. Maloff has bestowed millions of dollars to the community, including funds to cover purchases of the department's police dogs, vests, vehicle, and training.
This week, officers from SLTPD were given a check by Reich after he learned of the need for replacement bullet-proof vests for the dogs. Each K9 vest has a life of about five years, the same time as their human counterpart's vests. These vests are cut from the same Kevlar® bulletproof cloth as their human partners, covering all the vital organs.
