SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There was an early morning SWAT operation near the Upper Truckee River in South Lake Tahoe on Friday after police received photos of a homeless felon living in the area with a rifle.
The pre-planned South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) operation went into a homeless encampment near the bridge at the end of Ponderosa Street and Sunset Drive at 6:24 a.m. on October 4. They used flash-bang distraction devices during the operation.
The homeless man, a convicted felon, has been taken in for questioning and is cooperating with SLTPD detectives. There was no rifle found during the operation and no arrests have been made at this time.
