South Lake Tahoe man arrested in alleged arson

South Lake Tahoe authorities have arrested a man for allegedly setting fire to a structure in South Lake Tahoe.
Around 11:15 Thursday night police and fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire at the trailer park on James Avenue. Several evacutions were made as firefighters worked to put out the fire.
During the initial response, police officers questioned resident Geraldine McClure. She stated that she was awakened by heavy smoke in the residence and was able to get out before the fire spread to the front door. McClure stated at the time she was unaware if her roommate, Eric Almdale was still inside.

After putting the fire out, Fire crews determined there were no other people inside of the trailer.
Almdale then call South Lake dispatch soon after to turn himself in for starting the fire. He admitted to police that he started the fire in the trailer because he was distraught over family matters and matters concerning the owner of the trailer.
