SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just before noon on December 16, 2019, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to the Lodi Avenue home of Jorge Campos after a call was received saying the 61-year-old was deceased.
The ongoing investigation later led detectives to Alan Isaias Martinez-Perez who was being held in the El Dorado County Jail on multiple charges after holding a woman hostage at gunpoint in her Ruby Way home in September 2020.
On Monday, October 3, 2022, Martinez-Perez, who is now 26 years old, entered a guilty plea to Murder in the 2nd Degree for an agreed sentence of 15 years to life. Some of Mr. Campos's family could not be in court Monday so sentencing was continued to November 28, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 3.
There will be several family members making victim impact statements at the November judgment and sentencing, according to El Dorado County Assistant District Attorney Joe Alexander. The Deputy District Attorney on the case was Miles Perry.
Alexander said SLTPD did a "great job on this investigation and should be commended for their work."
