The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Sunday, October 27 from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Winds from the east are expected 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.
Waves on Lake Tahoe will be 2-4 feet from mid-lake to western shores. Small boats, kayaks, and paddleboards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.
There is a change in store for Sunday besides the wind. South Lake Tahoe will have a high of 68 and a low of 25. On Sunday, bring out the winter clothes as a high of 42 is forecast with a low of 17.
The abrupt change comes as a strong cold front moves through the region later Saturday and Saturday night. Behind the front, expect gusty northerly winds through Sunday with much colder temperatures for the first part of next week. Temperatures rebound towards average by late next week.
