Alpine Meadows ski resort instructor dies in backcountry accident

Alpine Meadows ski resort instructor Annalise Kjolhede, 24, died from injuries resulting from a ski accident that happened Saturday, resort officials said.
Kjolhede was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno. She was wearing a helmet but suffered severe head and neck trauma. She died Tuesday night.
Alpine Meadows issued a statement: "Though she was part of our team but one season, Annalise was a valued member of Alpine Meadow’s Kids Ski School. Her outgoing personality, passion for working with kids and friendly nature will be remembered and missed by all of her friends and colleagues here at Squaw and Alpine. Her passing is a tragic loss for our team and community."
