Steven Van Zandt brings TeachRock Teacher Appreciation Tour to Lake Tahoe

Multi-talented Steven Van Zandt brings his band, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, to the South Shore Room at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe on Saturday Dec. 8. In addition to a high-energy rock ‘n soul concert, the show is part of Van Zandt’s “Soulfire TeachRock Teacher Appreciation Tour” and offers a free seminar and the show to area teachers.

“Little” Steven Van Zandt, a founding member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, brings his high-energy rock & soul band to Tahoe for the first time ever.

The Soulfire TeachRock Teacher Appreciation Tour gives a free workshop and concert to teachers, providing education materials that use the history of popular music to create engaging, multicultural lesson plans for history, social studies, language arts, music, and science classrooms, all of which are available to educators at no cost.

The Rock and Roll Forever Foundation’s TeachRock program was established by Dr. Van Zandt (he received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degree from Rutgers University. His current tock tour is the first-ever one that is specifically geared towards addressing this crucial societal need. At each stop of the tour, The Rock and Roll Forever Foundation is hosting FREE TeachRock Professional Development Workshops, with educators who attend also receiving a complimentary ticket to that evening’s concert.

Area teachers can register at www.teachrock.org/tour. Teachers who register for the workshop also receive free guest tickets to the show at Harrah’s Tahoe on Dec. 8 in the South Shore Room. Show time is 7:30 p.m.

Van Zandt began his musical career with New Jersey’s Ashbury Jukes before hitting it big with Springsteen and company. He is also a songwriter, arranger, music producer, TV producer, Director, TV and film composer, social activist, teacher and actor. Any fan of the hit HBO series “The Sopranos” will fondly remember his character Silvio Dante, Tony Soprano’s loyal consiglieri throughout the seven seasons of the Emmy Award winning show. Van Zandt is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
