SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Overland Meat & Seafood Company will once again pay-it-forward in South Lake Tahoe and give away hamburger to those in need of some help with putting food on the table during these trying times. The new giveaway day is Monday, December 14 starting at 10:00 a.m.
Brian Cohen, owner of the popular market in South Lake Tahoe, will be continuing what they have now done four different times since the beginning of the pandemic. So far they have given away thousands of pounds of hamburger to people in the community.
"Many people are still struggling in our town," he said. "We are here to help out the community."
Cohen said with the new Stay-at-Home orders he expects many more to need help with food on the table, especially during the holidays.
This giveaway was a last minute decision and Cohen didn't have time to pull together the other partners from the past, so he'll just have hamburger. It's been keeping cold in the freezers at Crystal Dairy.
This will be the final one of 2020 due to the hectic pace Overland will see in the coming weeks, but look for more giveaways in 2021, Cohen said. If anyone would like to donate to the cause, stop by Overland at 2227 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe. Cohen said they can take checks, cash or credit cards and all with be used for community hamburger giveaways.
