SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The local group tasked with improving and promoting tourism, the South Lake Tahoe Tourism Improvement District (SLTTID), is donating $10,000 to an Essential Food Bag Program for South Shore locals in need during these challenging times.
This follows their program this spring where $10,000 was donated to help support community members, especially those in the tourism industry and families of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. People who were impacted with the stay-at-home order shutdowns received approximately 500 grocery bags.
For the holiday season, anyone needing groceries can arrange pick up of the free bags by contacting SLTTID Chair Jerry Bindel in advance by email at jbindel@forestsuites.com or by phone at 530-543-6532. Please leave a message for call back.
Choices are an Essential Bag (Raley’s canned foods, pastas, fresh fruit, and sausage rolls), or a Fresh Meal Bag (Raley’s Ready-to-Go meal selections, soups and muffins).
“This has been arduous year with so many challenges and we don’t want a basic necessity of putting food on the table to be one of them,” said Bindel. “We encourage other organizations and individuals to help where feasible this holiday season to bring hope and support to our beloved community.”
