“Wouldn’t it Be Nice” to rock out as the legendary Beach Boys perform one-night only at Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, March 27, 2015. Regarded one of the greatest American rock groups and an important catalyst in the evolution of popular music, The Beach Boys are one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful bands ever. www.montbleuresort.com.
Having sold millions of records with songs that are forever associated with sunny California, sandy beaches, long boards and hot rods, Beach Boys classics such as “I Get Around,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Wouldn’t it Be Nice,” “Little Deuce Coupe” “California Girls” “Barbara Ann,” are among dozens considered timeless pop rock masterpieces.
The Beach Boys are listed by Rolling Stone Magazine No. 12 as the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 1966, the album “Pet Sounds” long considered the group’s most influential works, was preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant."
Tickets are $50 and $60, plus taxes and fees, and available through Ticketmaster.com for the 9 p.m. show.
While the Beach Boys have a southern California connection, band captain and original founding member Mike Love has spent much of his time at Lake Tahoe where he has a home in Incline Village. Love proudly wears his trademark Hawaiian shirts underneath layers of winter wear whenever the snow flies. He is also known the large heart beating beneath it contributing to countless charitable organizations, including those that promote education and the environmental health of Lake Tahoe though his Love Foundation.
Regrouped throughout the years, The Beach Boys continue to create and perform with a bold imagination and style that marked their explosive debut more than 50 years ago. With Mike Love as leader and vocalist, the band plays an astoundingly busy schedule of concerts, averaging 150 shows a year. In 2012 the band released “That's Why God Made the Radio,” which was produced by founder Brian Wilson and recorded to coincide with the band's 50th anniversary.
With Love as the lead vocals today’s band consists of Beach Boy-vet Bruce Johnston (vocals/keyboards), Christian Love (guitar/vocals), Randell Kirsch (bass/vocals), Tim Bonhomme (keyboards/vocals), John Cowsill of The Cowsills (percussion/vocals), and Scott Totten (guitar/vocals).
