Submitted by paula on Fri, 07/03/2020 - 2:04pmIndependence Day has a long tradition of bringing family and friends together from near and far to enjoy many of the things that make us uniquely American. Along with all of the freedoms we enjoy we share a strong national conscience. Part of that conscience is accepting responsibility for fulfilling, as individuals,
our civic duties. In these times of pandemic, perhaps our most important civic duty is to ensure the health and safety and wellbeing of ourselves, our families and our community.

Talking turkey: Fabulous brine and a unique barbecue twist
Submitted by paula on Tue, 11/24/2015 - 3:27pmFor years I thawed my turkey, covered it with butter and herbs and foil, and popped it into the oven, always afraid to steer away from what I knew worked.
That was, until I watched Emeril Lagasse on Good Morning America about ten year ago. Now, its all about the brine!
The first year I tried the brine I had the recipe all written out and followed it closely, but since then I improvise with whatever is in the kitchen cupboards.
Since this is Tuesday there is still time to do a brine, but you need to hurry.

Top 13 Reasons South Lake Tahoe is the Place to be this Summer
Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/23/2015 - 7:38pm1. It is SO much cooler than the valley. With nights in the 40s and days in the 70s and 80s, it’s the perfect spot to cool off!
2. Yes, our beautiful lake is a little lower, but with a depth of 1,644’, a loss of one foot over the next 4 months really isn’t that much. There is still lots of water left to play in!
3. This is a great time to explore the other water sport options since it may not be perfect for motorboats and jet skis. Plenty of places to rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards.
