An officer involved shooting happened in Carnelian Bay Sunday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., resulting in the suspect being transported to Renown Medical Center via LifeFlight.
Deputies from the Placer County Sheriff's Office responded to the 600 block of High Street after receiving a 911 call from someone in the residence who said a person in the home was "acting bizarre."
Deputies knocked on the door and an unidentified man answered the door with a large barbecue skewer. The man ignored orders to drop the skewer and instead lunged at the deputy in an attempt to stab him according to Placer County Sheriff Lt. Andrew Scott.
The deputy shot the man. He was transported to Renown Medical Center and his current condition is unknown. The deputy was uninjured.
Placer County Sheriff's Office request people to stay out of the area of High Street and Nightengale today as they expect the investigation to continue during the day.
No other details are available at this time.
