Kindness and gratitude from that first Thanksgiving in 1621 to today
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/26/2020 - 12:03amIf those who attended the first Thanksgiving in 1621 happened to time travel and visit the 2020 version, what would they think of our version of the holiday?
That first celebration wasn't called Thanksgiving, they didn't have potatoes or pumpkin pie, but they did have a feeling of gratitude and thankfulness over the three-day celebration after a successful harvest.
Thanksgiving is based on the idea that we should all take time to count our blessings at least once a year and to celebrate it with family and friends.

Thanks to their Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorship, the Dauscher Family funded B&B’s meal, and as a family, volunteered at the dinner to spread the holiday spirit and share the blessing of a holiday meal.
“What a wonderful way to start Christmas week,” shared Ellen. “We love helping our community members who are hungry. Thank you, Bread & Broth for letting us join you.”

A Thanksgiving gratitude message
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/28/2019 - 3:22pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Gratitude: grat·i·tude /ˈɡradəˌt(y)o͞od/ - noun - The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Just in the definition, there is so much meaning for not only this day but for every day. As the Thanksgiving turkey, potatoes and stuffing are heaped onto dinner plates, thank yous are given for the ability to have the meal with family and friends. Thanksgiving reminds us to give thanks and to count our blessings. We are blessed and lucky to enjoy life, and we must remember that every day of our life.

Gift idea for friends or family: Donating to Camp Fire victims in their name
Submitted by paula on Sun, 12/09/2018 - 12:07amIf you're like most this holiday season, you've been busy trying to find the perfect gift for loved ones on your list. You've hit the malls, shopped online, browsed the catalogs and spent your free time shopping.
For some it's easy to figure out what to buy them, but for those who already have everything, it's not so easy.
Instead of searching for what to give, especially for the adults in our life, how about doing something that will help those who lost everything and now need everything?
Angel of Tahoe buys new flooring for Live Violence Free
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/10/2018 - 11:04pmLisa "The Angel of Tahoe" Maloff continues to spread her blessings around South Lake Tahoe, and this time Live Violence free was the recipient.
The carpet at their office on Lake Tahoe Boulevard was in serious need of replacing as it had become a safety hazard with its ripples. Kids that visit the non-profit agency for services often ended up playing on the thread bare carpet that had seen better days.
Crews were at the office this week, ripping out the old carpet and putting in new flooring, something that is waterproof and easy to clean.

Op/Ed: How we can be a community and help one another
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/02/2017 - 10:59amHave you ever made a decision that took you down the wrong path in life? Boy. I sure have.
Have you ever stumbled and fallen when facing challenges that seemed insurmountable? I’m raising my hand.
Did life ever throw you a curveball that you didn’t see coming, and perhaps you reacted in a way that didn’t serve you well? This has happened to me more times than I can count.
Do you or someone close to you struggle with addiction or mental health challenges? My family and personal relationships certainly haven’t been immune to either of these troubling issues.
