More than 200 people enjoyed the unique cocktail creations served up at the 5th Annual Barton Foundation Signature Cocktail contest held at the Riva Grill on Wednesday evening.

The festive and lively evening featured nine bartenders who were challenged to create a drink that featured Tahoe Blue Vodka. Contestants included Stephen Camp (Heavenly), Gary Gramprie (LewMarNel’s), Ian Sievwright (MacDuff’s ), Alice Schmalenberger (Mc P’s Pub ), Ken Newbold (MontBleu), Josh Thompson (Nepheles ), Erick Martinez (Riva Grill), Mara Milich (Sonney’s BBQ ), and Rob Morse (The Boathouse).

There will be an evening of adventure and environmental films from around the world designed to inspire, educate and entertain at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater on Wednesday, August 13 at 7 p.m. This is a special program for the whole family. I love Lake Tahoe history and have been looking forward to the much anticipated Chautauqua which is coming to Valhalla's Boathouse Theater on Thursday, August 7.

The Lake Tahoe Historical Museum has had the posters of the event up on its walls for months, getting history buffs and locals excited about seeing the likes of Mark Twain, Anita Baldwin, Hank Monk and Pony Express Rider Warren Epson, all who played important roles in Tahoe's past.

South Tahoe Graduate Ethan Nivan is directing the hilarious play, The Servant of Two Masters which can be seen at the historic Valhalla Boathouse Theater over the next two weekends.

Whether it’s date night, girls night out, or family night, make your plans to see this hilarious play directed by Nivan, who is a recent graduate of Ashland University and the veteran of many successful South Lake Tahoe performances. A high-flung/low-brow comedy about a hungry servant who hatches a scheme to double his wages (and his meals) by serving two masters at once.

The opening night for the Valhalla summer season at the Boathouse Theater was a sold out hit with Ray Bonneville's show with Lance Canales and the Flood taking center stage.

The Alan Miller Trio's jazz sounds will fill the boathouse on Tuesday, July 1. Show time is at 7:30 p.m. and presale tickets are recommended due to the number of people turned away for the first show.

The 2014 Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival begins On Wednesday, June 25th with a concert featuring award winning songwriter and guitar player Ray Bonneville with very special guest Lance Canales and the Flood opening the show.

Lovers of all genres of music will appreciate these renowned American Roots and Blues artists. The Boathouse Theatre’s rear doors will be open to the lake view for this special evening! During the winter of 1960, athletes from around the world came to Lake Tahoe to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. On Monday August 13, 2012 at the Valhalla Boathouse Theatre in South Lake Tahoe, Jesse Kalin will take center stage performing his original music in an intimate concert setting. With over 20 original songs written, Jesse will share material that has not been heard before.

Great theater makes its way to the shores of Lake Tahoe this month during the Valhalla Arts & Music Festival with a performance of the Tony Award-winning comedy "God of Carnage.' What happens when two sets of parents meet up to deal with the unruly behavior of their children? A calm and rational debate between grown-ups about the need to teach kids how to behave properly? Or a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums, and tears before bedtime?

The audience calls out suggestions. A group of actors who enjoy walking a theatrical tight rope, improvise a scene on the spot.
The audience laughs and then the actors do it again, and the audience laughs again…you get the picture. And so it will go during a night of improvisation theater with Tahoe Improv Players at the Tallac Historic Site on July 3 at 7:30pm.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management unit reminds folks that having fireworks of any kind — and sparklers are considered fireworks — is illegal in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Campfires are not permitted on Forest Service beaches or in the general forest. For Wednesday, July 4, 2012, only, personal barbecues are allowed at Nevada, Pope and Baldwin beaches but are not permitted on any other Forest Service beaches or in the general forest.
