SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The popular Heavenly Holidays has returned to the Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe. This family-friendly event runs until December 31.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A day full of family-friendly fun will take place on Saturday, October 19 during the Bijou Bash at Bijou Community Park in South Lake Tahoe from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“This community works hard all year to make South Lake Tahoe what it is and we want to celebrate that,” said City Manager Frank Rush, “At the end of the day families matter, citizens matter, this event is the city’s way of bringing everyone together to acknowledge that.”

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Labor Day officially marks the end of the summer season in Lake Tahoe and weekend-long celebrations are spread throughout the South Shore September 1-3, 2018.

Labor Day Lasers at Lakeview return to Lakeview Commons on Sunday, September 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Besides a laser show that uses the tall pines as a backdrop there will be food trucks, a dozen local vendors where people can purchase handcrafted goods and clothing, and a wine and beer garden.

Have you missed your dose of doughnuts and frozen yogurt? No longer do you have to wait as Rainbow Sprinkles is reopening at the Y in South Lake Tahoe on Tuesday, January 16 at 6:00 a.m.

After their first year in business the owners closed for a couple of weeks to make some changes and are now excited to see the customers they've missed.

"We love our customers and can't wait to see them again!" said co-owner Salli Ross-Filgo. "We wanted to say how grateful we are to this community for their support. We have had the honor of serving so many wonderful people."

Fun for the whole family will be at Lake Tahoe Aleworx Autumn Carnival in South Lake Tahoe on Sunday, October 22 from noon to 8:00 p.m.

A full list of activities for all: The Loft will be there with their Magic Fusion show, a Barista Throwdown, Tahoe Fire Dancers, human and dog costume contests, face painting, pizza eating contest, carnival games, Paint n' Sip, photo booth and much more. Prizes will be given for the contests.

Lake Tahoe Aleworx is located at 2050 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in The Crossing at Tahoe Valley center.

With the cancellation of the 19-year long tradition of fireworks over Labor Day in South Lake Tahoe due to budget constraints, the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority and other local businesses have pulled together to present a full menu of things to do on the South Shore from a laser light show to concerts and a carnival.

Area residents and visitors can enjoy two big fairs with rides, music and exhibits. The 2017 Nevada State Fair runs from June 8 to June 11, and the El Dorado County Fair goes from June 15-18.

The 2017 Nevada State Fair returns this week to Carson City bringing four days of fun, entertainment, carnival rides, culture, music and more to Mills Park.
From Thursday, June 8 to Sunday, June 11, the Nevada State Fair will showcase exhibits from each participating county throughout the Silver State.

Help support local charities at the 18th annual Heavenly Ski Patrol fundraiser, Boardwalk Beach Party. Join them on April 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Hard Rock Lake Tahoe.

There will be carnival games, raffles, a silent auction, avalanche dogs, live music by "Hare of the Dawg", food, beer, wine and much more. Two lucky raffle winners will receive a Grand prize of a Tahoe Value 2017-18 season pass!

Nevada is one of the few states that celebrate its Admission Day, and boy do we throw a party. A parade, competitions of strength and facial hair, hot air balloons, bloody marys, a carnival, pow wow, and free chili are just a few of the festivities awaiting the capital city on Saturday.

Tiffany "TJ" Carter may not yet be a household name, but that may soon change with the national release of a music video off her first album.

The 30-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman, a 2003 graduate of South Tahoe High, is celebrating the video's release and shared the news from her berth on a Carnival Cruise Line ship. She also talked about how she got started on her career in a town she's called home since 1989.

Mya Rossi has been named Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls club of Lake Tahoe because of her outstanding contributions to both the club and her community.

Along with this role she will also be receiving a Heavenly/Kirkwood/Northstar season pass next winter courtesy of the Vail Epic Promise Program.

Halloween on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe will have something for all ages. Here are some activities for kids:

Lego Block Party at the South Lake Tahoe Library at 10 a.m. - Design, build, invent with Legos! Join us as we build with Legos and Duplo blocks. The whole family is welcome. Your Lego creation will be displayed in the library until next month’s Block Party when the fun begins again. All blocks will be provided. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

The inaugural South Tahoe Community Carnival will be held at the South Tahoe High School on Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be games, prizes, a velcro wall, Sumo wrestling, performances, food, fun and school tours.

The carnival ill be set up at the school's softball field.

Last year, all students at South Tahoe High School were able to receive a free yearbook and they'd like to continue that tradition. All funds raised at the carnival go to support the STHS yearbook.

Zeds Dead and Kill the Noise will be headlining Bass Camp Festival III at the Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe on July 25.

As part of the resort's BaseJam Summer 2015 Outdoor Concert Series these two bands join over 30 other artists in a day long festival on Saturday July 25. The day of entertainment gets underway at 11 a.m.

There are several safe trick or treat events going on around the South Shore on Halloween as well as thousands of homes to visit along city streets. Rain is expected as the sun sets so dress warm, stay dry, be safe and have fun!

Halloween Cove returns to the Beach Retreat & Lodge located at 3411 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Kids will go from room to room getting treats, enjoy face painting, games, photos and music. Head for the courtyard of the hotel. It goes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and it's free.

With blue skies and warm temperatures, many people were out enjoying everything there is to do in South Lake Tahoe this holiday weekend. Many events from a carnival to fireworks were held, giving people plenty to choose from.

One of these events was the 5th Annual Sample the Sierra Farm to Fork Festival. The main event was held at Bijou Community park on Sunday, with over 1,200 people enjoying food and drink from the region. There were 16 booths of local food, wine, beer and spirits as well as an artisan marketplace, live music and a cooking contest with a mystery box of ingredients.

A outdoor feast with the main course arriving straight out of Lake Tahoe and an indoor muscle and fitness protein fest will be the ultimate flex and fry events of the summer, Aug. 23 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa.

The second annual Boil 'n Fry Day Festival is Lake Tahoe's version of an old fashioned New Orleans crawdad feed, complete with live music at the MontBleu Outdoor Event Center, carnival games, hot wings, barbecue, cold crafted beer and all the fried, boiled or barbecued fresh water crustaceans festival goers can eat.

The South Lake Tahoe non-profit group, Dawgs on the Run, will host their first “Buried Bones Rummage Sale” on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rummage sale will be full of things for pets and their owners including new and used dog toys, bedding, accessories, clothing and much more. The sale will be held at the corner of Ski Run Blvd and Forest Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.

You may have seen the trucks full of carnival games, rides and food arrive in South Lake Tahoe this week. Over the last several days, the parking lot at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa has been transformed into a young person's paradise.

The carnival will be in town June 5 through June 8.

Unlimited ride daily wristbands are available for $25 per person.

Opening night on June 5 will be Buddy night where two-for-one wristbands are available.

Halloween is always a celebration in South Lake Tahoe and this year is no different. Even though the actual holiday is on Thursday, October 31, the parties and celebrations start in town this weekend. Here is an overview on all that is happening:

Halloween Dance with the Tahoe Dance Band - at the Senior Center on Friday, October 25. The 17 piece dance band will perform big band music, food, drink, costume prizes. 7:30 - 10 pm. $10.

The is a plethora of activities for visitors and residents alike to enjoy in South Lake Tahoe this weekend.

The Great Sternwheeler Race between the MS Dixie and Tahoe Queen on Saturday at 10 am. The boats will leave their respective piers and head for their opponent's. Action at Ski Run Marina, Zephyr Cove Resort and points in between.

Heavenly Mountain Resort will be a flurry of activity during Labor Day weekend, as the resort hosts the 27th Annual Heavenly Sports Tent Sale, the Heavenly Mountain Run, and the Kiwanis Community Fair at the California Main Lodge.
