Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra's virtual Elegant Evening a success
Submitted by paula on Tue, 04/21/2020 - 9:04amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many nonprofits have had to cancel their fundraisers due to the coronavirus, but the ladies of the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) club in South Lake Tahoe weren't going to let the virus stop them.
Their 31t annual Elegant Evening was slated to be held at Harrah's Tahoe on April 18 with a sit-down dinner, live music, and dancing, raffle, and auction. The venue closed and restrictions on meeting in groups of over 10 people were created, so what do you do with an event that brings together 500 community members?
Move it online, of course.
Kudos: Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra thanks Elegant Evening supporters
Submitted by paula on Fri, 05/17/2019 - 8:09pmDear Community, The sold-out 30th annual Elegant Evening 2019 at Harrah’s Tahoe was a huge success and that was due to the generosity of businesses and friends near and far. We are beyond thrilled that our special appeal for Challenge Day was met and exceeded!
Lake Tahoe real estate market news
Submitted by paula on Wed, 03/13/2019 - 6:01pmPREP IT, PRICE IT and GRAB THE MARKET
The appreciation rate for Lake Tahoe real estate has stabilized to a more moderate rate from past years and is currently being driven by limited supply. If you are considering selling your home soon; take advantage of the season by prepping the interior through de-cluttering, cleaning, painting where necessary and look at your floors to be cleaned or replaced. These are some very cost-effective applications which will show your home in the most favorable of conditions. It also budgets your time for the Spring yard work that will lend curb appeal.
Lake Tahoe real estate market news
Submitted by paula on Fri, 01/04/2019 - 8:16amLooking at the economic news is enough to give you pause with rising interest rates, stock market volatility and real estate experiencing declining sales numbers and the reduction of appreciation. Our market (Lake Tahoe) will see a small negative impact from interest rates as they affect affordability but the last item, equity growth, will impact our market the greatest. The public is staying in their homes for a longer period historically and supported through the increase in remodeling, appliance and flooring sales.

As demand soars, Christmas Cheer makes plea for help
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 12/13/2011 - 1:22pmThe Great Recession continues to rear its head here at home, with demands on social services soaring and a genuine fear that South Shore’s food bank won’t be able to provide Christmas dinner for a record number of families in need.
For 30 years, the Christmas Cheer food bank has helped families celebrate Christmas with a traditional dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. However, with 800 families expected to be on the list of those to receive a dinner, the charity has only 75 donated turkeys and five hams to give and organizers say they are beyond being nervous.
