Living in Nevada and working locally in town, parents have the ability to choose between any of the South Lake Tahoe public schools or our local district school in Zephyr Cove.

Sitting here at the end of February with snowpack numbers dwindling, snow lovers are chomping at the bit, waiting to see the storm track shift back our way.
Still, the mountains have been buzzing with activity as skiers and snowboarders race to the mountains to enjoy what natural snow we’ve received and are ever thankful for the assist from local resorts’ snowmaking operations.

New general manager announced for Kirkwood Mountain Resort

Jones has been with Vail since 1998 and has held several positions in Human Resources since that time, most recently as Vice President of Human Resources where he oversaw the Colorado Resorts and employee housing initiatives. He’s also been a member of various boards including the Epic Promise Foundation and Vail Resorts’ Emergency Grants Committee.

Often these young people are some of our community’s most vulnerable and underserved. They are at a time in their lives when they need our “village” to be there for them without judgment, with kindness and compassion, and with the resources to be able to provide them the tools to be able to forge the future successfully.
3rd annual Tahoe Brewfest benefits Lake Tahoe Boys and Girls Club

The third annual Lake Tahoe Boys and Girls Club Tahoe Brewfest will be held this Saturday, June 1 in the Heavenly Cal Lodge parking lot.
VIP tickets are sold out online (a few will be sold on Saturday) and they allow guests into the event at noon. The doors will open for everyone else at 1:00 p.m. and the event ends at 4:00 p.m.

Over 3,000 attend 2nd annual Tahoe Brewfest
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/06/2018 - 8:31pmThe weather, the venue and the crowd all combined for a successful 2nd annual Tahoe Brewfest, a fundraiser for the Lake Tahoe Boys & Girls Club. 34 breweries gave out samples of their craft beers to the over 3,000 people who attended the event held at the Heavenly Mountain Resort California Base Lodge June 2.
Also there for the guests was Parker Bros. Root Beer, kombucha, live music from Ike and Martin, and local food vendors.
Attendees weren't just from South Lake Tahoe as there were many from out-of-town, including visitors from Chicago and Whistler, Canada.

"Everything we do at Vail Resorts is driven by the spectacular natural environments where our employees, guests and communities live, work and play," Katz said in a press release. "The environment – and our stakeholders’ passion for it – is our business, and we have a special obligation to protect it."

Submitted by paula on Tue, 12/27/2016 - 8:54pmOn behalf of the organizers of the Lake Tahoe Virtual Race, I would like to thank Lake Tahoe community members and businesses as well as Barton Health employees and physicians for their incredible generosity.
Barton Health recently hosted the first Virtual Race Challenge. Racers walked and ran for 72 days and recorded their mileage on a 72 mile digital map of Lake Tahoe. Together, with their financial contributors, the racers raised $4,044 in donations to help expand Barton Health’s Cancer Wellness Program.
Douglas County students participate in gang resistance training program

The annual G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) program has lessons from Deputies Teresa Duffy and Chris Wiggins which wrapped up with a four-day adventure event at Lake Tahoe.

Along with this role she will also be receiving a Heavenly/Kirkwood/Northstar season pass next winter courtesy of the Vail Epic Promise Program.

Thanks to a grant written by STEEC member, Devin Middlebrook (TRPA Environmental Education Specialist), EPIC Promise (through Vail Resorts – Heavenly) covered the cost of transportation, lift tickets for the tram ride, use of snowshoes, and presenters. The day was well planned and all went smoothly.
We learned much about our environment including local animals, avalanche safety and snowmaking. And luckily we enjoyed a “blue bird” day at the top of the tram!

The EpicPromise Awards are being given at Vail Resorts’ mountains across the country as part of the first annual EpicPromise Week (April 6-10, 2015), a full week dedicated to celebrating Vail Resorts’ widespread commitment to creating a more promising future for generations to come.
