Kudos: Juvenile Service Council thanks supporters

The Juvenile Service Council (JSC) of El Dorado County is a 501c3 all-volunteer organization serving at-risk youth ages 14-18 who are involved in the Juvenile Justice system. Often these young people are some of our community’s most vulnerable and underserved. They are at a time in their lives when they need our “village” to be there for them without judgment, with kindness and compassion, and with the resources to be able to provide them the tools to be able to forge the future successfully.

Our biggest role as caring adult JSC volunteers is to spend time with the youth, letting them know that we are a community that is invested in their future, and we will be there for them. This past 2019/20 Fiscal Year, with financial support from grants, donations, and our Holiday Fair fundraising event, we were also able to provide programs, activities, experiences, and other support. We would like to take this opportunity to share our appreciation for our donors, collaborative partners, and community members who believe in these young people and supported our efforts to help them find a path to forge the future successfully.

Thank you to our donors: Tahoe Women’s Community Fund; Bessie Minor Foundation; LTVA/American Century Golf; EDCF-SLT Endowment; Vail Resorts/Epic Promise; Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra; Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe; Tahoe Douglas Rotary; Knights of Columbus; South Tahoe Refuse; and our numerous community members who were so generous with their donations.

We also extend special appreciation to our numerous collaborative partners and community members: the El Dorado County Juvenile Probation staff both at the Juvenile Treatment Center (JTC) facility and in the field (a special shout-out to the leadership of Asst. Superintendent Kaci Smith, Chief Probation Officer Brian Richart, and Superintendent Andrew Craven); the teachers and support staff at the Blue Ridge JTC school (and a special shout-out to Principal Carey Buchanan); Liz Broscoe; John Holland; Kim George; volunteers from Lake Tahoe Wildlife; Ian Ruhter and Will from Silver & Light; Carl Ribaudo and members of the Lake Tahoe Blue Riders; Dawnda Smith/Lake Tahoe Paint & Sip; and Gina Stowell.
