SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) will be hosting their weekly meetings via ZOOM for the next few weeks due to Stay at Home orders to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The club is inviting women in the community to check out their group of good-hearted women working to enhance the lives of women and youth on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center is seeking volunteers to assist with this year's Science Expo. No experience is necessary and the job is "fun and easy."

Volunteers will facilitate a hands-on science investigation station with small groups of elementary students. All the volunteers need is a willingness to have fun and share science with local youth. Training will be provided prior to the event.

Over 1,800 runners will be participating in this weekend's 5th annual Rock Tahoe Half Marathon. The race, presented by Epic Tahoe Adventures (ETA), sends the runners past the spectacular scenery of many of Tahoe’s east and south shore treasures including Glenbrook, Logan Shoals, Cave Rock, Round Hill Pines, Nevada Beach, and Rabe Meadow. They wind down over 1,000 feet from Spooner Summit to the finish line at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe.

The 2019 Science Expo being held at Lake Tahoe Community College by the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center is still in need of volunteers for the event between April 2-5, 2019. Training will be provided on April 1 5:30 p.m. at the college or prior to each Science Expo shift.

Several area agencies have teamed up with South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue to participate in the 5th annual Wildfire Safety Expo in the TJ Maxx parking lot at the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, June 9 from noon to 3:00 p.m.

Learn about how planning is the most important tool in staying safe during a wildfire, including creating defensible space and having a home evacuation plan.

There will be informational booths, refreshments and fun activities for the whole family. KRLT-FM will be broadcasting live and Smokey the Bear will be making an appearance.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – As we’ve learned from the recent Fire Season Outlook, year-round fire season is the new normal in the Lake Tahoe Basin and throughout the country. Life Science and Health is the theme of the 3rd annual South Lake Tahoe Science Expo which will be held on Thursday, April 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Lake Tahoe Community College gymnasium.

There will be hands-on science investigations, experiments, and demonstrations for visitors of all ages. This year's activities focus on health, nutrition, the human body, organisms, ecosystems, food webs, life cycles, inheritance, adaptation, and more!

The Science Expo fosters curiosity, excitement, and interest in science and its free and open to the public.

Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) awarded $25,003 towards programs in the local community that benefit youth during a luncheon on Wednesday, March 14.

The following presenters gave a brief description of the program on how the funds that were awarded would be used.

Good news for South Lake Tahoe as the Amgen Tour of California has announced their 2018 race schedule. A favored site for the women’s race, South Lake Tahoe will once again host the men for the Stage 6 finish and welcome back the women for the fourth year in a row on May 18. 2018.

AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, made the announcement Thursday.

Food, wine and spirits will be the stars at Harrah's Lake Tahoe's 8th annual South Lake Tahoe Food and Wine Festival. October 27-29.

Activities begin Friday evening, Oct. 27, with a Whiskey Tasting at Cliché Lounge on the 16th floor of Harrah’s hotel. Enjoy tasting a variety of whiskeys from around the world, which are “Crafted,” using different processes to create amazing varieties of whiskey.

South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue along with multiple local agencies are coming together and hosting the 4th annual Wildfire Safety Expo on Saturday, June 17 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the TJ Maxx parking lot located at the “Y” where

The GO Local: Business EXPO returned to the South Shore with huge success thanks to attendees, vendors, volunteers, and sponsors! Over 1,300 locals and visitors gathered inside the Harvey’s convention center, Friday, March 31, as Tahoe Chamber Member businesses showcased their latest programs, products, and services.

The night was highlighted with live entertainment from Heavenly Resort Mountain and The Loft Lounge, vendor giveaways including a raffle of two cruisers bikes courtesy of South Shore Bikes, and tasty food and beverage samples from all the generous restaurant vendors.

Liberty Utilities will be at community events around the Lake Tahoe Basin through the end of April where customers can come by and receive free LED light bulbs if they sign up for a free energy audit.

Energy experts will be at the Liberty Utilities booth at these events providing customers with the most up-to-date information about ways they can reduce their energy consumption and, as a result, their energy costs.

The 12th annual North Lake Tahoe Science Expo and 2nd annual South Lake Tahoe Science Expo are coming up and they both need volunteers to help with the over 30 hands-on science activities for upper elementary students. This year's theme is Earth and Space Science. All the activities will be ready to go and volunteers will be trained for their station.

Don't worry, no science background is needed and you might even learn something new while teaching the local youth!

One of the most popular and dynamic business events of the year will be held on Friday, March 31 at Harvey's Lake Tahoe from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Tahoe Chamber) has now opened the 2017 Business Expo booth registration.

The kickoff events are now in the record books, and racers are now preparing for the rest of Lake Tahoe Marathon week to get started.

The 2nd annual Rock Tahoe Half-Marathon heads to Lake Tahoe on Saturday, June 18. The 2,000 spots for runners are already full, filling up three weeks before the event. The course takes the participants down 1,000 feet in elevation as they pass some of Tahoe's iconic views.
