DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. = After consultation with the Douglas County officials, the towns, public safety agencies, and Douglas County Emergency Management it was determined in-person public holiday events in the towns of Gardnerville, Genoa, and Minden have been canceled. This includes the 25th annual Parade of Lights hosted by the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce. County officials said the action was deemed necessary for the safety of the community, due to the most recent State directive limiting public gatherings to no more than 50 people.

The Tahoe Chamber collected 190 nominations from the community for the 13th annual Blue Ribbon Award to celebrate the businesses, non-profits and individuals that make the South Shore of Lake Tahoe so unique. Local businesses have been a resilient backbone of the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and honoring their contributions, achievements and milestones is more important than ever before.

Emanate Gallery os South Lake Tahoe is welcoming local artist Shelley Zentner, and her Art of Ashtanga collection with a meet and greet on Saturday, September 5.

Zenter's collection features stunning original figure drawings of yoga poses captured in charcoal.

There will be an in-person event at the gallery from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a virtual tour via Facebook Live from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (see here).

This Saturday, July 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., join Make Tahoe Records at Scott Forrest Fine Art Studio to help Tahoe's very own Tahoe Arts Alliance. Make Tahoe Records will be featuring an exhibit of "Freshly Groomed Vinyl", a curated collection of freshies on vinyl including new releases from independent and alternative artists. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many nonprofits have had to cancel their fundraisers due to the coronavirus, but the ladies of the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) club in South Lake Tahoe weren't going to let the virus stop them.

Their 31t annual Elegant Evening was slated to be held at Harrah's Tahoe on April 18 with a sit-down dinner, live music, and dancing, raffle, and auction. The venue closed and restrictions on meeting in groups of over 10 people were created, so what do you do with an event that brings together 500 community members?

Move it online, of course.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Due to the current public health crisis, the El Dorado County Superior Court will be limited access to courthouses, effective immediately. They currently plan to resume normal operations on April 17, 2020, though with the rapidly unfolding coronavirus situation, this could change.

Courtrooms will be practice social distancing, including at least two seats between people in the gallery. Members of the public are strongly discouraged from attending court proceedings unless they are statutory support persons or those who have been subpoenaed.

ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. - The Parents’ Club of Zephyr Cove Elementary School is holding “A Night In Tahoe” catered fundraiser on Tuesday, March 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Blue Estate.

The beautiful estate is being donated as well as the amazing catering skills of Bella Tahoe for the event.

Complimentary shuttle service to the home will be provided to and from the Heavenly Mountain Resort's Boulder Lodge parking lot. The Parents’ Club invites the community to this fun-filled evening to support ZCES.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for an art gallery reception on Monday, December 2 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way, South Lake Tahoe.

The free art reception is open to the public and will include a meet and greet with displayed artists and city officials, including this quarter's artist, Regine Bandel. Bandel will be presenting her watercolor landscapes and will also be speaking at the event.

LAKE TAHOE, Ca./Nv. – Tahoe Chamber's 12th annual Blue Ribbons Awards will be held on Thursday, November 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. The event honors and celebrates South Shore businesses and individuals.

The cost of the event is $65 for Tahoe Chamber members and $85 for non-members and includes champagne upon arrival, a 3-course dinner and a glass of wine.

MFA candidate and LTCC instructor Daphne Osell, has her thesis show at the Halden Gallery on the Lake Tahoe Community College campus: I can smell summer and winter at the same time....Her work features landscape-inspired drawings.

All work is for sale. The show runs from July 11-29. Open hours are 12-4 Tues-Friday and by appointment.

Every year local Reno artists open their studio doors for a weekend to thousands of art lovers. This is "Reno Open Studios"​ and will take place September 6 -8 (same weekend as The Great Reno Balloon Races) This year, we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. This year artists within Nevada Marketplace, Artists Co-op Gallery Reno, Latimer Art Club and about individual 40 artists will participate. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Compass Clay Studio, a learning ceramic studio and art gallery, is open for business in South Lake Tahoe. Owners and instructors, Colleen Sidey and Bryan Yerian are ceramic artists with over 40 years combined experience, Lake Tahoe Community College art faculty members, and local elementary school art enrichment teachers. Colleen and Bryan have lived in South Lake Tahoe for over ten years and created Compass Clay Studio as a way to provide the local community with access to the clay experience.

South Lake Tahoe artist Malcolm Tibbetts has once again donated one of his famous woodturning creations to the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) Elegant Evening fundraising event on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

Bids on "Ovals in the Woods" are accepted online and bidders do not have to attend the event to participate.

Tibbetts left the Heavenly management team in 2002 to start a new career that would work within his longtime love of woodworking. He is now a full-time studio artist designing, engineering and creating amazing works of art in segmented woodturning.
