Rude Brothers looks for new home after building is sold

The building is old and worn out, but the coffee, bagels and treats inside have kept both locals and visitors happy for over two decades.

Rude Brother's Bagels is located on the bottom floor of a building located at 3117 Harrison Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. The current owners of the popular coffee and bagel shop, Jim and Lisa Gosh, have been in the same location since 2001 after buying the business from Steve Rude.

SLT Police Chief on Officer Hounsell, auto theft, violent crime and winter driving

Tragedy at the Police Department. The department is deeply appreciative of the support given to the family of Mark Hounsell who was killed, along with his wife Jeanne and her friend Laura Fisher, in a motor vehicle accident. They are survived by 4 children who have been the recipients of beautiful and heartfelt support from the entire community. The fund for the Children is now approaching the goal of $130,000. South Tahoe baseball program fundraising for new scoreboard

There has been a lot of work completed on the baseball fields in South Lake Tahoe, including a new diamond for local little league teams. One needed item wasn't on the list of projects completed with Measure S funds was replacing the old and broken scoreboard so a fundraising effort has begun to replace it.

South Tahoe High varsity baseball coach Starbuck Teevan started a GoFundMe page in order to help with the $18,500 needed for a new scoreboard.

Doug was the son of August William Anderson and Bridget Anderson.

Doug has left behind his wife, Sue Swanson Anderson of 20 years, and two beautiful and amazing children, Bailey Nichole Anderson and Daniel August Anderson. He is also survived by his four sisters, Alice Anderson Palmer and her son Hunter Busenlehner, Betsy Kelly, Kate Anderson and Maureen Walker.

Outpouring of support for family of Dejon Smith

The news is still fresh and the whole story may not yet be known, but the tight knit community of South Lake Tahoe has been quick in it's offering of support to the family of Dejon Smith, the 14 year old whose body was found Saturday.

News of Smith's death has traveled quickly through social media and news outlets and people want to do something to help his family.

On August 26, 2014, South Lake Tahoe resident Matthew Marhefka was in a serious dirt bike accident and suffered a broken neck which resulted in his being paralyzed from the neck down.

He recently had neck surgery and the results were successful. His spine is now stable but due to the severe spinal cord injury he remains paralyzed from the neck down. According to family friends, the doctors have hope that he could possibly regain feeling and or movement to his hands and arms.

Benefit for South Lake Tahoe toddler diagnosed with Leukemia

A fundraiser has been scheduled for the three year old daughter of a South Lake Tahoe family who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Mackenzie Bogart needs the help of our community as she and her family prepare for the next step in her care.

The Bogarts have been long-time Tahoe skiers and snowboarders. Their four children all compete in the local USASA Snowboard Circuit and are dedicated to providing a recreational outlet for their children.

We ran a story in June about Cody Matthews, the 23 year old El Dorado County man missing from his family's home near Ice House Reservoir.

Local man suffers head injury in Colorado; Fundraising campaign started

Quint Ross, owner of Camp Richardson Corral, suffered a fractured skull in Estes, CO just over a week ago. The local veteran of Lake Tahoe Renaissance Faire jousting events was transported to a Denver area hospital with bleeding on the brain.

Doctors there released him so he could fly back home on Monday, September 8, but after suffering a setback he is currently being seen by specialists at Barton Hospital.

Lake Tahoe entertainer Arthur Hervey launches campaign to help with medical expenses

Many people know him as Arty the Party, others know him as Arthur Hervey while others will remember him as a local entertainer who has graced local stages with his piano and singing for years.

Arty, who once worked for Caesars Tahoe and is now with Harrah's Tahoe, recently lost his wife Randee to Andrenal Cancer. Their love story lives on even though Randee is no longer with us. Facing mounting medical bills, a gofundme.com campaign has been launched to help with expenses.
