There has been a lot of work completed on the baseball fields in South Lake Tahoe, including a new diamond for local little league teams. One needed item wasn't on the list of projects completed with Measure S funds was replacing the old and broken scoreboard so a fundraising effort has begun to replace it.
South Tahoe High varsity baseball coach Starbuck Teevan started a GoFundMe page in order to help with the $18,500 needed for a new scoreboard.
Known as Todd Fields, the Babe Ruth field is not only used by the high school and Babe Ruth teams but also by the Bluejacks Summer and Fall league and outside tournaments.
Besides being broken, the scoreboard was powered by a 200 foot long extension cord, and according to Teevan that set up didn't always work. The funds will also be used for a constant power source.
If you'd like to donate, visit the baseball team's GoFundMe page.
