Al Roker of NBC’s Today Show fame, will discuss his passion, interest and concerns about climate change, as well as his storied career as keynote speaker at Operation Sierra Storm, the annual television meteorologists’ conference at Lake Tahoe. The public is invited to tune in via Facebook to watch Roker on Monday, January 25.
Operation Sierra Storm (OSS) in an annual weather conference held on the South Shore. Due to health and safety restrictions, the public is unable to attend Monday's event in person, but they are welcome to participate via Facebook.

This amounts to a 22.08 percent decrease compared to August 2019, when licensees reported a gaming win of $953,623,896, according to the monthly report released today by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Watsonville cop arrested on suspicion of battery and damage charges in Stateline

Tyler Leroy Stephens, a new officer for the Watsonville department, is currently in the El Dorado County Jail awaiting extradition to Douglas County on counts that include battery and destruction of property.

Bike the West tried to merge the two popular rides after the America's Most Beautiful was postponed earlier this year. They were to take place on September 13 but current COVID-19 restrictions and setbacks with reopening phases governed by local, county and state health agencies have led them to postpone and move to 2021.

The FTC’s acceptance of the consent order satisfies all required antitrust clearances for the merger and allows Eldorado to move forward with the merge plans.
The selling of MontBleu Resort Casino in Stateline by Eldorado is part of the deal as Caesars Entertainment already owns both Harveys and Harrah's Lake Tahoe, MontBleu's neighbors.
Multiple agencies respond to missing child at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/10/2020 - 4:41pmSTATELINE, Nev. - Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) responded to the Hard Rock Casino in Stateline at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10 after they were called about a missing two-year-old girl.
The child's mother had checked into the hotel on Tuesday with her two teenage sons and her daughter. She left the room at 8:00 a.m. to attend a conference being held at the hotel and left the kids sleeping. When she returned at 10:00 a.m. she found the two teens still asleep but her daughter was missing.
Casinos preparing to reopen in June with new rules

The Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) will be meeting on Tuesday and consider action necessary for reopening. Pending those results, and evaluation of trends in data, the state's gaming industry could reopen. During the NGC meeting there will be a workshop with state and local health officials regarding COVID-19 response measures at resort-hotels.

Originally set for Sunday, June 7, it has been rescheduled to combine with the 18th annual Tour de Tahoe, set for Sunday, September 13, 2020. This due to the uncertainty of current and changing CDC coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions and mandates by national, state and county health agencies.
Governor orders all Nevada casinos and non-essential businesses to close

The Stateline, Nevada casinos not already closed will close March 17 at midnight. The nonessential businesses in the state must close by noon on Wednesday, March 18.

Tahoe Women's Community Fund to give away a record $125,000 in grants

The 212 members of TWCF contributed to the fund and Lisa Maloff made another generous donation. The $125k they will be giving to the community through grants is 49 percent higher than last year.
Members vote where the grants will be focused and they've added a new category this year, the Inspiration Grant.

The National Football Conference champion San Francisco 49ers will play against the American Football Conference champion Kansas City Chiefs.
No matter who you are rooting for, or if you just enjoy watching the game which is known for epic halftime shows and commercials (and championship football), South Lake Tahoe and Stateline are providing parties and fun spaces to do so on Sunday.

More than 120 community members attended the January 23 mixer to raise money and food for the group that feeds almost 180 school-age students with a backpack of weekend food as well as hot meals for everyone on Monday and Friday evenings.

They will be hosting two open houses at the Hard Rock in Lake Tahoe on Tuesday, November 12 to discuss results and to learn more about the housing needs of the South Shore. Flipper Manchester, a South Lake Tahoe construction company owner, was originally hired to demolish the yacht that had been dry-docked at the Tahoe Keys Marina for years.

Ink Master alums open Revolt Tattoos inside Hard Rock Lake Tahoe

The new spot was unveiled during a grand opening party on January 2 where guests were eligible for raffle prizes including a free four-hour tattoo.
“If your New Year’s resolution is to get that memorable tattoo you’ve always wanted, this is your chance,” said Brandie Warr, director of resort marketing of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Lake Tahoe. “This edgy shop fits perfectly with the vibe here at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.”

Trey Stone Benefit Concert

The South Shore community is coming together on November 14 at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe's Vinyl for musician Trey Stone who is now in end stage kidney failure. Stone's friends in the musical word are donating their talent for a one night event to support his efforts to heal, get on dialysis and eventually get a kidney transplant.
Tickets are $20 and there will be raffles and a silent auction.
All proceeds will go to healing Trey and helping him continue gracing the world with his talent.
