Master Gardeners 2019 Plant Sale

June 22, 2019 - 12:00pm The UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe are having their 6th annual Plant Sale on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 12 noon to 2 PM. (Or until all plants are sold, so arrive early!) This year’s sale will be held in the Cowork Tahoe parking lot. (Formerly Tahoe Mountain Lab) at 3079 Harrison Avenue, SLT. There will be a wide variety of Tahoe and Sierra natives as well as many high elevation adaptive plants. Vegetable plants will be very limited this year.

Lake Tahoe Community College selects new Director of Institutional Effectiveness
Submitted by paula on Wed, 07/11/2018 - 5:00amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is pleased to welcome Dr. Donna Sohan, the new Director of Institutional Effectiveness, who joined the campus administration in early July after a national search.
LTCC Superintendent/President Jeff DeFranco said, “Dr. Sohan fills a critical role for the college. She has worked extensively with both four-year and community colleges and brings to LTCC the essential experience in generating, analyzing and utilizing data effectively necessary to support the full range of institutional decision-making.”
Master Gardener vegetable plant sale at Ski Run Farmer's Market

June 9, 2017 - 3:00pm The UCCE Master Gardeners of South Lake Tahoe are having part one (vegetables only) of their 4th annual Plant Sale this Friday, June 9 at the Ski Run Farmers Market from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., or until they sell out of plants. The sale is being held jointly with the Sierra House Elementary School who will be selling student crafted garden art.
New format for Master Gardeners plant sale in South Lake Tahoe

June 9, 2017 - 3:00pm The UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe are having their 4th annual Plant Sale takes on a different format this year. Natives and other perennials need more time to grow out of their overwintering slumber so the sale will be held in two segments. Vegetable plants will be sold at the Ski Run Farmers Market on friday, June 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (or until all plants have been sold) and the Natives and Perennials will be sold on Saturday, September 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sierra House Elementary School.

Enlightened gardeners realize that it is not enough for a garden to be just beautiful. Gardens must also attract crucial pollinators and conserve water. Gone are the days of lush, green, thirsty lawns. We can replace turf with species that are well adapted to the local climate, save water, reduce runoff, and support wild creatures in the face of habitat loss and climate change. Learn how to support the local ecosystem and insect pollinators like native bees and butterflies, too, at the next UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) lecture on April 7, 2016.

The annual garden tour in South Lake Tahoe, once an annual event for the Lake Tahoe Historical Society, is now being hosted by the UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe.
New Lake Tahoe Master Gardener Program Offered
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 07/24/2012 - 12:54pmTraining for a Lake Tahoe Master Gardener program will begin this September in South Lake Tahoe.
The program is a partnership between the University of California Cooperative Extension Central Sierra and the Tahoe Resource Conservation District.
Participants who complete the 50-hour training course will be certified Lake Tahoe Master Gardeners who then can provide the community with research-based information about home horticulture and gardening.
