A fantastic handbell concert will be presented by the Friends of the Library on June 14 when they host Tintabulations, a community handbell ensemble from Reno.

With the holiday season now in full swing, it’s only appropriate that the Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) brings Jazz for the Holidays to Northern Nevada for all to enjoy on December 20, 2013 at The Nightingale Hall - University of Nevada. Accompanying the accomplished musicians of the RJO are vocalists Cami Thompson and Kenn Pettiford, international Tap star Sam Weber and performers from the Sierra Nevada Ballet under the direction of Rosine Bena. The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Vern Scarbrough, will open the holiday performance which starts at 7:30 pm.

The University of Nevada, Reno is set to hold the 57th Lake Tahoe Music Camp July 21-27 at the Nevada State 4-H Camp. Each year, nearly 200 students in grades 8 through 12 participate in a week of music activities, rehearsals, team building exercises and recreation time, all on the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe.

The camp is filled with jazz and classical music workshops, clinics, performances, mentoring and instruction with award-winning University faculty, guest conductors, professional Chamber singers and jazz musicians and more.

Lake Tahoe isn’t the only beautiful thing people will be gazing at this summer because the Artist-In-Residence program is sure to catch the eye of many at the annual summer-long Valhalla Arts, Music and Theatre Festival.

Top Bay Area alt-folk band, The New Thoreaus, are set to make their South Lake Tahoe debut at The Divided Sky on Saturday, June 8.

Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be in the Gym at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex, 1182 Rufus Allen Blvd., South Lake Tahoe Saturday, April 27, 10 am to 6 pm.

In cooperation with the Himmel Haus, Blue Angel Café, and Rainbow Mountain, the Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation will host the first annual South Tahoe Santa Run to benefit Christmas Cheer and the HSSF Scholarship Fund on Thursday, Dec. 20th, regardless of weather.

“Running in Santa costumes for charity is a fun, win-win situation to me!” said Zakariah Latzka, Himmel Haus owner. “We are excited to be involved in helping the community that has so graciously embraced us and our business.”

The Lake Tahoe Sierra Century Ride 2012 is slated for Saturday, September 22, offering incredible scenery and excellent exercise, all benefiting a great cause. Riders can choose a 100-mile, 60-mile or 30-mile route and enjoy breathtaking vistas and the crisp mountain air of autumn in the Sierra.

The Wa She Shu It’ Deh Native American Arts Festival at the Valhalla Grand Lawn July 28-29 features traditional American Indian dancers and drum performers, basket weaving displays, art, and great food. The basket weaving competition features over fourteen different categories.
