New agreement in the works for 56-acre South Lake Tahoe downtown project
Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/16/2020 - 7:43pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The long-discussed 56-acre parcel in the middle of South Lake Tahoe is finally seeing movement again, and both the South Lake Tahoe City Council and El Dorado County Board of Supervisors (BOS) supporting further conversation. A formal agreement between the two is expected later in 2020 with another one-two years of public meetings, consultant review, and planning before plans are implemented. The California Tahoe Conservancy is funding the cost of the consultant, just as they did 30 years ago.
Remodeled rooms, lounge and restaurant part of $41 million in upgrades for Harveys Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Sat, 12/21/2019 - 11:53pmSTATELINE, Nev. - Harveys Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino is undergoing some major projects including the complete remodel of all Lake Tower hotels rooms. Besides these rooms and the new Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen on the casino floor, Harveys is also adding new balcony suites as part of over $41 million in capital projects for 2019-20.
The tower’s balcony suites, with incredible views of the lake, were also renovated last year. The upgraded guest rooms and additional projects as well as a new casino bar and lounge experience opening in 2020 are part of the new capital outlay.

Dumpster fire at South Lake Tahoe hotel
Submitted by paula on Mon, 12/19/2016 - 8:09pmA fire inside a dumpster at the Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge in South Lake Tahoe was quickly distinguished Monday evening.
At 6:48 p.m. December 19, South Lake Tahoe Fire Department received the call, and one engine responded and quickly put out the fire. Damage was contained to the dumpster.
No cause was evident.
Inn by the Lake changes name to Hotel Azure Tahoe – $3.5 million renovation completed

The hotel located at 3300 Lake Tahoe Blvd., is now called Hotel Azure, a name to match the lake across the street and the skies that surround them.
Hotel Azure has completed extensive renovations with the re-opening of the hotel in time for ski season.
South Lake Tahoe motels merge into one, the Hotel Becket

The San Francisco hotel chain Joie de Vivre merged the Park Tahoe and 968 Park motels into their first location in Lake Tahoe. Located at the corner of Highway 50 and Park Avenue in South Lake Tahoe, Hotel Becket was originally two Travelodge motels and one Day's Inn. Several years ago the Travelodges merged into the Park Tahoe and the Day's Inn became 968 Park.
Hotel Becket is named from the "becket knot," a nautical term for tying two ropes into one.
Coachman Hotel holds grand opening this weekend

Gone is the stuffy front desk. Gone are plastic outdoor furniture and generic beds. What takes their place are locally made wooden furniture, fire pits, a bar that doubles as the check-in counter, and books, games and s'mores to make guests feel like they're just hanging out in someone's home.

Epic Discovery Project and illegal tree cutting on next TRPA board agenda

The TRPA board meeting will be held on March 25 at the Chateau in Incine Village and on March 26 at the agency's office in Stateline.

The Bijou Post Office has remained vacant since closing a couple of years ago, but it will soon see new life as an extension of the Beach Retreat & Lodge as a ballroom. The 5,000 square foot space should be opened by late January, 2015. Hotel guests will be transported to the ballroom or many may choose to walk the short distance.
