South Lake Tahoe rally held to support local law enforcement

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Almost 200 people showed up Saturday to display their support of South Lake Tahoe law enforcement during a rally on a national day to "Bridge the Blue."

The supporters gathered at the entrance to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) and South Lake Tahoe Police buildings before many of them joined a walk down Johnson Boulevard to US50 over to Lakeview Commons and down Al Tahoe, then back to the beginning.

Tahoe Arts Project to live stream sold out 8th annual Dancing With the Tahoe Stars

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Tahoe Arts Project (TAP) has announced its 8th Annual Dancing with the Tahoe Stars on Saturday, March 7 is sold out. But not to panic if your tickets weren't purchased - they will be live streaming the event for the very first time!

USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships head to Reno next week

The USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships will be held in Reno at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park January 9-14, 2018. The park will be transformed into a course that will see the nation’s leading amateur and professional cyclocross racers. Thirty-six national titles are on the line. National champions will be crowned in junior, collegiate, U23, masters, and elite divisions.

Large 4th of July parade expected in South Lake Tahoe

The City of South Lake Tahoe will be hosting this year's 4th of July parade, and a large turnout is expected for both the parade and the post-celebration activities at the American Legion.

Community members, clubs, groups are all signing up to take part in the parade on Monday, July 4, starting at 10:00 a.m. So far, there are 50 entries and 150 walkers participating.

The route goes from the Crossing at the "Y" to Al Tahoe Blvd, at the Rite-Aid parking lot so travelers can expect travel delays on the road during the duration of the parade.

Comments at City Council meetings to remain televised

To televise or not televise, that was the question in front of the South Lake Tahoe City Council on Tuesday, April 19. While live streaming of the Council meetings is not required by law, it is something the City has done on both the internet and television since May, 2007.

The agenda item was added after discussion arose during the April 5 meeting when Mayor Wendy David asked that they stop televising the public comment portion of the meetings. Her comment caught many by surprise, even by some of her Council members.

Maddie Bowman leads pack at U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix at Park City

Park City, UT (Feb. 3, 2016) – The U.S. qualified seven total skiers to the finals of the Visa U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix at Park City on Wednesday, with Maddie Bowman of South Lake Tahoe leading the way with the top spot for the women while Aaron Blunck (Crested Butte, CO) was the top American for the men, qualifying in second.

"Qualifying went really well," said the South Tahoe High graduate. "Everyone’s pretty tired after X Games but everyone went out and did the best that they could do and laid down a good qualifier, so I’m excited for finals."

First meeting today for new South Lake Tahoe City Council

New South Lake Tahoe City Council members Wendy David and Austin Sass will join Hal Cole, Tom Davis and JoAnn Conner today as they begin their official first day of service after being sworn in this morning.

The 9 a.m. meeting begins with an inaugural ceremony and election on who will be the next Mayor of the city and the Mayor Pro Tem for 2015.

All committee assignments will be laid for for the year as well.

Also on the agenda are BevMo's request for a liquor license and South Tahoe Refuse's request for a rate increase starting January 1.
