Six weeks after tickets went on sale, The Polar Express™ has officially sold out, according to the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau.
More than 7,500 riders will board the magical holiday train on the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, the only officially licensed Polar Express event in the region this holiday season.

Zimride, the largest online ride-sharing service in North America, today announced that a new route between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe will open to the public beginning Thanksgiving day, bringing Bay Area residents convenient, inexpensive access to one of the country’s top winter destinations. Unity at the Lake began as a small study group in Karen Martin's living room and 17 years later is a thriving, diverse and open spiritual community that well over a hundred locals and visitors call their spiritual home. Their spiritual leaders, Stew and Hillary Bittman, are currently in the process of becoming ordained Interfaith Ministers. Unity has published the "Daily Word" since 1924.

Who said there's never any good news on Thursdays? The folks over at SnowGlobe Music Festival report that the advance and early bird tickets for the Dec. 29 through New Year's Eve concerts have sold out. Courtesy of the Tahoe Tallac Association, Valhalla Grand Hall will be decorated in a festive Holiday mode for the 16th Annual Holiday Faire during the weekend of November 19-20. Hours are from 10am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday.
Twenty-five local vendors and artists will be offering a varied assortment of hand-made and other special items for purchase.
Father Christmas comes to visit as local school choirs and other musical groups perform both days.

Unity at the Lake will be hosting the Harvesting Our Dreams fundraiser Friday, October 28 from 5:30-9:30pm in the Harvey's Garden Room.

The body of U.S. Army Spc. Garrett Fant, who was killed on Sept. 26 in Afghanistan, will arrive at Reno Tahoe International Airport later tonight. Heavy snow forced the change. Family and friends left the Lake Tahoe Airport along with military personnel at around 6:45 p.m.
