COVID-19 testing at Lake Tahoe Community College through July
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/02/2020 - 6:08pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - COVID-19 testing will continue in the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Physical Education building through the end of July, at a minimum.
The LTCC virus testing site is the only large scale site in El Dorado County after the site at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs closed. There has since opened a testing site in El Dorado Hills.
The decision to continue using the facility as a testing site will be made on a month-to-month basis going forward.
COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties
Submitted by paula on Fri, 06/19/2020 - 7:16pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say there were five new confirmed cases in the county Friday, four from the Lake Tahoe region, one from the Greater Placerville area. Of the three females and one male, one was under 18, one between 18-49, and three in the 50-64 age group.
There were no new recoveries leaving 30 active cases. There are no hospitalizations but there are three patients in the ICU with suspected COVID-19.
Lake Tahoe Community College one of two new free COVID-19 testing sites in county
Submitted by paula on Sun, 05/03/2020 - 10:58pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County officials announced Sunday they will open two appointment-only community sites for COVID-19 testing for any resident wanting to be tested for the virus, one in South Lake Tahoe and the other in Shingle Springs.
These sites follow Governor Newsom's announcement last week to add more than 80 community COVID-19 testing sites across the state, focusing on underserved communities. His goal is to test 60,000 to 80,000 people per day for the virus as the state prepares to reopen.

November 15, 2017 - 5:30pm Taxpayer Watchdogs For Dan Dellinger Recorder-Clerk will be hosting a “Campaign Launch” fundraising reception at Crystal Basin Winery in Camino on Wednesday Evening November 15 from 5:30 p.m to 9:00 p.m. Donation is $60 couples and $35 for singles with the proceeds going to help pay for important campaign material such as signs and voter education brochures to help elect Dellinger. All people interested in helping Dellinger improve County government and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse, are encouraged to attend and support Dellinger’s election.
Five cases of viral meningitis in El Dorado County
Submitted by paula on Fri, 11/03/2017 - 2:58pmSeveral viral meningitis cases have been reported from Susanville and Reno to El Dorado County.
As of November 2, 2017 a total number of four confirmed cases have been identified at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs and one confirmed case has been identified at El Dorado High School in El Dorado.
The school district has notified parents of the situation and extra cleaning has been done at the schools. Public Health is working closely with school staff and has notified county health care providers.
El Dorado County teen arrested for murdering relative
Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/19/2017 - 10:39pmWhat first appeared to be a case of a 16-year-old high school student bringing a loaded firearm onto campus Thursday quickly turned into a murder investigation.
At 8:00 a.m. January 19, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) was notified that a student at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs had been detained for bringing a loaded firearm onto campus. Upon deputies arrival at the school, they placed the student under arrest for the possession of the firearm.
Cameron Park teen still missing after hiking near Cosumnes River
Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/21/2016 - 6:54pmThe 15-year-old from Cameron Park who went missing while with family members on May 29 has yet to be found, even though El Dorado County search and rescue teams have not given up looking for him.
Joshua Joo, a atudent at Ponderosa High School, became separated from his group in the Bucks Bar area near the North Fork of the Cosumnes River, in what is known as the Cosumnes River Gorge.
Joo is and activer member of the school's Alpine Ski Team and Future Farmers of America (FFA).
Since the day Joshua went missing, there has been an extensive and ongoing search effort to locate him.
Ponderosa High School coach arrested for inappropriate relations with students
Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/28/2016 - 8:25pmThe Ponderosa High School water polo coach was arrested by the El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday, January 26 on charges of sex with a minor with the intent of committing sexual acts and possession of child pornography.
Shane O’Rourke, 22, was arrested after the school's resource office obtained information that a coach at the school was possibly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student. An investigation conducted with EDSO investigators determined O'Rourke had two inappropriate sexual relations with students.
16-year-old charged with sexual battery and child pornography
Submitted by paula on Wed, 10/21/2015 - 8:53pmPonderosa High School resource officers were notified of a 16-year-old male student who was reportedly showing photos of a naked female to other students on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
An investigation was started and the photos were located on the student’s cellular telephone. The photos were of an underage nude female who had posed for the pictures. Further investigation revealed the same male subject allegedly inappropriately touched another female student the prior day while on the campus, which is located in Cameron Park.
