Originally set for Sunday, June 7, it has been rescheduled to combine with the 18th annual Tour de Tahoe, set for Sunday, September 13, 2020. This due to the uncertainty of current and changing CDC coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions and mandates by national, state and county health agencies.

September 14, 2019 - 10:00am On Saturday, September 14, at 10:00 am, the Dangberg Home Ranch Celtic Faire will be the final special event of the 2019 Dangberg Summer Festival.
A celebration of the Irish, Scottish and Welsh people who helped to settle Carson Valley will offer a day filled with entertainment and activities for all ages.
The gate opens at 9:00 am with the faire beginning at 10:00 am. From opening until noon, the Silver State Highlanders will be demonstrating heavy athletics such as “tossing the caber” and “weight for distance”.

What's killing Nevadans? The top 10 causes of death in the Silver State

But one cause of death in the Silver State stands out compared with national trends: suicide. The number of suicides increased by 13 percent from 2015 to 2016, according to data provided by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health.
It's a trend Washoe County's chief medical examiner and coroner, Dr. Laura Knight, has noticed locally.

The six-foot tall volleyball player from South Lake Tahoe is now headed to the next level and will be playing for Sonoma State next fall.
"I'm so excited," said McKenna as she signed a letter of intent to be the newest Sonoma Seawolf at the high school Thursday. Besides playing volleyball she will also be studying nursing.
McKenna started playing volleyball in seventh grade and hasn't looked back.

In this presentation, Pickford will discuss her book and her life.

Many people are surprised to learn that Jack Dempsey once called Nevada home. Dempsey left footprints all over the Silver State that affected the entire sporting arena.
He helped usher in the era known as “The Golden Age of Sport” along with baseball’s Babe Ruth, football’s Red Grange, golf’s Bobby Jones and tennis’ Bill Tilden.

Heavy snow headed to central Nevada

The winter storm watch in effect from Saturday evening through Monday morning, the National Weather Service reports.
Some details:
•4 to 8 inches of snow in the valleys
•8 to 16 inches of snow in the mountains.
•2 feet of snow locally on the mountains of southeast White Pine County, including Great Basin National Park.

Stateline Casinos Have Biggest Drop in Gaming Revenues in the State
Submitted by paula on Wed, 11/27/2013 - 8:06amCasinos at South Shore Lake Tahoe saw a 22.5% drop in gaming profits for the month of October, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported today. The rest of the Silver State saw a drop of 2.58%.
The Stateline casinos took in $12,291,710 in gaming-related profits or "win" compared to October 2013.
There is still come good news for the local casinos, they still lead the state with a 3.22% gain in gaming win for the fiscal year which started July 1.
The net revenue for Nevada was $954.331,806.

Casinos in Stateline took in $32,371,760 in gaming-related profits or "win" compared to July 2012, a 9.23 percent increase.
Las Vegas strip casinos saw the biggest decrease in gaming profits for the month, seeing a 14.40 decline from July 2012.

Regulators: Nevada Online Poker in 7-10 Months

At Monday’s Gaming Policy Committee meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli said that the Silver State will likely issue its first licenses in 30-60 days — and it will probably take another six to eight months after that before games are running.
Despite efforts from a handful of other states, Nevada remains the only jurisdiction in the country where online poker is legislatively authorized.
