The notions of keeping peace and preserving justice were always on his radar and for 30-plus years, the now-retired senior lieutenant for the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Lake Tahoe Branch fulfilled his commitment.

Jill Kinmont Boothe, whose story was the basis of 'The Other Side of the Mountain' dies
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 02/10/2012 - 1:55pmJill Kinmont Boothe, the former ski champion and Olympic hopeful who was left paralyzed after a skiing accident in Utah in 1955 and whose life story was the subject of the film "The Other Side of the Mountain" and a subsequent sequel, died Thursday at Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, the Los Angeles Times reports. She was 75.
Ruth Rhines, senior deputy coroner of Carson City, confirmed that Boothe died. A cause of death wasn't given and Rhines could not confirm reports that Boothe died of complications related to surgery.

New storm to arrive on Sunday; ski resorts prepare for brisk business

Ski resorts report up to 2 feet of snow from the system which arrived Friday and continues today. The National Weather Service in Reno reports that a second and much colder storm will move into the area on Sunday into Monday, dropping temperatures and bringing more snow. The City of South Lake Tahoe is pleased to announce a promotional ceremony for three new Fire Department Shift Commanders will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011. The ceremony will take place at the City’s Administration Offices (South Lake Tahoe Airport) at 2:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Being promoted to Shift Commander are Jim Drennan, Rob Hembree and Dan Sullivan. In announcing the appointments, City Manager Tony O’Rourke said, “The three Commanders will have significant responsibilities and have demonstrated the capacity to carry them out. We are pleased to announce their promotions.”
Regulation Allowing Firearms In State Parks Wins Lawmaker Approval

CARSON CITY – A regulation eliminating a prohibition on carrying firearms in state parks has been approved by the Legislative Commission. The regulation still prohibits the discharge of a firearm in a state park with some limited exceptions, such as designated target shooting areas.
