New Trails and Tree Hunt Guided Hike

Let the TRTA and our dear friends at the Sugar Pine Foundation take you on a guided hike through groves of interesting trees. The hike will meet at the Kingsbury South Trailhead (Heavenly’s Stagecoach Lodge) and hike south for a little over 3 miles. Along the hike, experts at the Sugar Pine Foundation will spill their knowledge about the crazy and mysterious life of trees. We will hike back to our cars picking up tidbits of cool facts along the way. Anyone like brand new, beautiful single-track trail with a view you’ve never seen?

Author JoAnn Conner Shares New Novel at SLT Library

The Friends of the Library present local author JoAnn Conner who will share the experience of getting her first book published. Conner's book, "Heartwood", is a work of historical fiction set in 1867 Bridgeport, California. The book tells the story of a young man who came west after the Civil War and stops in Bridgeport, where he buys an old ranch.Historical tidbits are laced through the story, with facts about Virginia City, Bodie, Genoa, and Carson City helping to build the tension to a surprise twist at the end. Books will be sold and signed at the event. Free and open to all.

Book signing of 'Heartwood' in South Lake Tahoe Sunday

Local author JoAnn Conner will hold a book signing of her first novel, Heartwood, at Rainbow Sprinkles Donut and Frozen Yogurt Shop on Sunday, August 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Tahoe Tidbits

El Dorado Savings on Al Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe is expanding into the space next door that was once home to Sierra Pizza. The bank will now be able to have a safety deposit box area. There is no plan for more teller windows.

Speaking of Sierra Pizza, they have moved into the empty restaurant between Pinnacle Real Estate and Tahoe Toys and Treasures.

Tahoe Tidbits: Cork & More changing hands, Postmarc Hotel to expand

The popular and long-time South Lake Tahoe business, the Cork & More, has sold. After almost 40 years of supplying wine, cheese, gifts and deli options to an adoring public, owners Jim and Kim Warlow have decided to retire. They were originally planning to close last Fall, but when potential buyers started to look into purchasing the store on Al Tahoe Blvd., the Warlows decided to hold off closure.

Escrow is expected to close around July 1 Jim said. After that, he's looking forward to enjoying Lake Tahoe's year round recreation from the slopes to the bike trails.

Join Tahoe Heritage Foundation and Tahoe Institute for Nature Science on Friday July 14 for "Birds of Lake Tahoe" and the "Tahoe Big Year." This event will be held at Taylor Creek Visitor Center at 8:00 p.m. and is open to the public. There is a $5.00 donation to the Tahoe Heritage Foundation.
