Tahoe Keepers will hold an appreciation event with complimentary food and drink for registered Tahoe Keepers at the Live at Lakeview summer music series from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on June 27, 2013.

The first 75 Lake Tahoe Keepers to check in will receive a voucher to Lakeview Café.

Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers to open for Steve Miller at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena

Van Sessions sensation Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers will open for the Steve Miller Band at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena June 22 at Harveys Lake Tahoe.

Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers arrived to international recognition with the viral 2012 video for their "Van Session" cover of Hall and Oates "I Can't Go For That." The video features the band, in their van, performing the song on travel-sized instruments. This particular session has garnered over 2 million hits and the Van Sessions have 2.5 million hits overall.

Edgewood Tahoe opens season May 9 with $1.6 million in upgrades

More than $1.6 million in course improvements highlight the 45th season of Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, set to open at Stateline, Lake Tahoe May 9.

A 10-year environmental plan meant to reduce impact and save water has been put in place with upgrades to the irrigation system as well as drought and stress tolerant grass. Other improvements include GPS devices on carts that feature yardage and video tips from pros.

Police look for man who robbed South Lake Tahoe bank

South Lake Tahoe police are looking for a man who robbed the El Dorado Savings Bank in the 3400 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard Thursday at around 2 p.m.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s, with a black hoodie and snow googles. He is described as being slight to average build with scruffy facial fair and a black patch of hair on his left cheek, similar to a mole. He was wearing blue pants, black jacket with leather sleeves, similar to a letterman's jacket, South Lake Tahoe police report. No weapon was seen.

It is a big day for some bear cubs that almost did not get to grow up. They were found last summer at a Nevada County gas station, taken from a man charged with illegally killing their mother. They weighed just 15 pounds each and would have no chance alone in the forest.

Lake Tahoe wildlife center is busy with bears

Winter is usually a slow time for a wildlife rescue center at Lake Tahoe, but this year is different. The center has more orphaned bear cubs than ever before. The good news is, they are all healthy and will be returned to the wild. ABC7 News took a look at what it takes to give a baby bear a second chance at life.

You may remember some bear cubs we showed you last summer when they were confiscated in Nevada County, taken from a man who was trying to sell them. One little cub was found near Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. Her mother was illegally killed by a hunter using dogs.

At Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, run by Cheryl and Tom Millham, a sick bobcat recently arrived, and there's a great horned owl recovering from a broken wing. The owl had surgery and now the challenge is to keep him calm and discourage him from flapping his wing while it mends.

Douglas County authorities seek public help in solving Carson Valley burglaries

Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects responsible for several burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Fourteen arrests during Stateline Lake Tahoe New Year's festivities

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports the New Years Eve celebration in the casino core area of Stateline, Lake Tahoe went as planned with 14 arrests made.

The celebratory crowd seemed no larger than in past years. Highway 50 was closed to vehicle traffic at about 11:00 p.m. for public safety reasons. The celebrants were allowed to flow into the roadway as they celebrated the coming of the New Year. The Nevada side of U.S. Highway 50 was cleared of celebrants at 12:20 am and was reopened to vehicle traffic at approximately 1 a.m. after the crowd peacefully moved off the roadway.

South Lake Tahoe threatens to shut down last pot shop

Tahoe Wellness Center in South Lake Tahoe might be closed by the end of the month for code violations including complaints about a strong odor of pot wafting from the business.
Tahoe Wellness Center Director Cody Bass says they have already been trying to fix the smell - the shop's has plans for construction in the works. In addition to changing the building layout, they'll also add new air flow controls. Tahoe Wellness Center has 10 days to appeal a letter of complaint sent by the city.

Lake Tahoe under Winter Storm Warning as storm blows into region

As rain turns to snow in the Sierra a Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Snow levels are rapidly dropping as cold air associated with this latest storm drops into the basin.
Snow is expected below 7,000 feet this morning with periods of heavy snow in the afternoon. Snow accumulations of 10 to 16 inches are expected above 7,000 feet with 4 to 8 inches at lake level. At least two feet is expected above 8,000 feet.

Douglas County authorities seek witness to Stateline assault

Douglas County authorities are asking the public for help in identifying two men responsible for beating and robbing an unarmed man outside a South Shore Lake Tahoe casino Nov. 10 at around 9:45 p.m.

The two suspects were seen on video surveillance assaulting and robbing the victim outside the casino. The men, described as caucasian or light-skinned Hispanics ages 18 to 25, jumped and battered the victim, punching and kicking him repeatedly after he fell to the ground.

Cold and windy winter storm moves into Lake Tahoe Basin

Here is a video update from the National Weather Service in Reno regarding the winter storm moving into the Lake Tahoe Basin.
The strong cold front has moved into the Lake Tahoe area with snow levels expected down to the valley floors. Snowfall will be the heaviest Thursday night with lake effect snow bands possible on the east side of Lake Tahoe and in the Carson Range on Friday night as well as southeast of Pyramid Lake.

Recommendations Regarding 'Economic Revitalization' for South Shore Lake Tahoe

After attending the State of the South Shore Economy Public Forum held on October 23rd, 2012 I was inspired to draft a response to the questions about economic revitalization that were asked at the meeting. I feel like our group had many salient ideas that were not properly represented. Also, I have noticed that people are quick to offer ideas like “reduce unemployment”, “beautify the city”, and “improve recreation”, but they are typically unable to offer suggestions on how to make those ideas a reality.

Hiker found at Lake Tahoe after missing for 2 days

Anyone who knows Nathan Spearing would most likely tell you he's the last person they would ever think might need a rescue from a mountain camping trip; after all, he's an avid outdoorsman and guide in Alaska.
However, a solo weekend trip up past Eagle Falls and into the Velma Lakes area near Lake Tahoe, Spearing got stuck when the weather changed and he needed help. When heading out Friday, Spearing told his family that if he didn't return on Tuesday, that meant he was in trouble.

Squaw Valley Opens for One-Day Fundraiser

Skiers and riders got to head down the mountain at Squaw Valley on Thursday. The resort opened for just four hours for a one-day fundraiser that marked the earliest Squaw Valley has opened to the public since it started keeping records in 1960.
At Squaw Valley, it's a bluebird day. And one for the record books.
"Yeah, this is the earliest we've been open to the public since our records dating back to 1960," says Jenny Kendrick, Public Relations manager for Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows.
But then again, this hasn't been a typical October, thanks to this week's storms.

The 24-year-old Parisian is known for his many virtuosic styles. His appearance at South Lake Tahoe is part of a year-long worldwide tour that has taken him to New York where he played Carnegie Hall, Hong Kong, San Paolo and Istanbul, London, Melbourne, Singapore and Tel-Aviv.

South Lake Tahoe police look for man with cell phone camera peeping in dressing room

On August 26 an unidentified male entered a clothing store in the 3500 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe and attempted to take video and/or pictures of a female in a dressing room using his cell phone by holding it under the door of the dressing room.
The victim’s boyfriend confronted the suspect who immediately ran from the shop.

Douglas authorities seek help in Carson Valley burglaries

Two commercial burglaries early Monday morning in Douglas County have authorities asking the public for help in identifying the suspects with photos provided by surveillance cameras.
The first burglary occurred at the Verizon Wireless Outlet Store on Waterloo Lane sometime around 5 a.m. Entry was made by the suspect smashing the glass of the exterior window of the store. Letter: Thank you to Community and Numerous Fire and Police Responders

The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and Police Department responded to a fire at Pioneer Trail and April Drive on the evening of September 18th. Upon arrival, they saw that two homes were fully engulfed with nearby trees also on fire.
