Sierra-at-Tahoe partners with Zeal Optics for enhanced high-tech video experience

When Sierra-at-Tahoe guests book any private lesson of three hours or more, they will now have the option of adding video analysis with high definition camera goggles to their Lake Tahoe ski and board experience.

Combining cutting edge technology from Boulder, Colo.-based Zeal Optics and iON camera with expert instruction from Professional Snowsports Instructors of America certified instructors, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests now have the ability to learn like never before.

Located in the frame of the goggle the Zeal HD Camera Goggle captures 1080p HD quality video and can shoot up to 8 megapixel photos for quick, easy HD imagery without having to take off your gloves.

Known as the “Place to Learn” around Lake Tahoe, Sierra Resort believes that guests should be able to see how they can improve, not just be told, said Sierra spokesman Steve Hemphill. With the Zeal HD Camera Goggle Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort instructors have the ability to enhance lesson offerings and allow guests to understand improvement tips through viewing and listening.

"Sierra Resort is extremely excited to be partnering with Zeal Optics. No other resort in the nation has this program and Sierra Resort is thrilled to utilize technology and teaching to improve our guests skiing and riding abilities," said Hemphill. "The quality of the video is fantastic and delivers clear, crisp images and video."

PSIA certified instructors will wear the goggle with built-in HD camera to capture video throughout the private lesson then dissect it throughout the day inside the Sierra Resort Learn to Ride Center. The Zeal HD Goggle will give guests instant visual feedback, the ability to highlight techniques and movements by selecting key moments in the video, the opportunity to understand what corrections and adjustments need to be made according to instructor comments, and show the guest just how much they are progressing.

Video instruction can be added onto a three-hour private lesson for only $30, and $60 for full-day private lessons.

Once guests experience this new goggle technology, they can buy a pair of their own at a discounted price in the Sierra Mt. Sports store, located at the base of the mountain.

Additionally, Sierra Resort will showcase the goggle technology through the “Goggles Don’t Lie” program on the Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Facebook page every Friday. The videos will showcase actual snow conditions and on-mountain activities for guests to see.
