Our initial plans include hosting and honoring some of the department’s original members. Over the years there have been many changes. Some points of interest include:
Opinion: The City of South Lake Tahoe no longer uses data to make management decisions
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 12/10/2015 - 9:01amA 3-2 vote cast last Monday repealed a portion of the 2013 Ban on Single-Use Plastic Carryout Bags. I don’t intend this to be a discussion on whether plastic bags should be banned or not (although I openly support policies that bring about greater environmental stewardship in our community), but I am questioning whether there was due diligence in acquiring the data needed to accurately represent the desires of the community when making this decision.

Happy Thanksgiving
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/26/2015 - 6:43amGratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melody Beattie
Happy Thanksgiving to our readers, their families, friends and loved ones.

Get Fido and Fluffy ready for Winter weather
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/12/2015 - 8:08amDear Henry,
I’m new to the area and not sure about how to deal with the cold weather and my dog, do you have any tips for us?
Thank you,
Bethany
Purrfect timing for this question as it actually looks like we are going to get a winter this year! Here are some winter tips for all pets.
Keep your cats inside. During any time of the year, cats that are allowed to stray can become lost or stolen, injured or killed. They can also be exposed to infectious diseases, including rabies, from other cats, dogs and wildlife.
4th Annual Christmas Cheer parade seeking banner sponsor

December 12, 2015 - 3:00pm
The fourth Annual Holiday Parade to benefit Christmas Cheer is seeking a sponsor to purchase a new banner. High winds last year destroyed the old banner which is on display at the South Lake Tahoe Visitors Center.
Parade organizer JoAnn Conner and her Golden Bear Events, is looking for donation(s) to help purchase a new one to leave more of the proceeds to Christmas Cheer, a local food closet.
This year's parade will be held on Saturday, December 12th, and begins at 3:00 p.m.
