A toddler girl has died after receiving major injuries in a three-car crash on US395 near Johnson Lane on January 17, 2017.
The deadly crash occurred when a pickup truck towing a utility trailer ran into the back of a Nissan who was traveling northbound on the highway when it slowed for traffic near the Johnson Lane intersection. The preliminary investigation shows the truck couldn't stop and ran into the back of the Nissan, forcing it off the road. It then continued through the intersection and ran into the back of a Honda that was stopped in the left lane.
The driver of the Honda and the toddler were transported by CareFlight. The driver and front passenger in the pickup and of the Nissan were not injured in the crash.
At 2:10 p.m. on January 19, the toddler from the blue Honda succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash.
All occupants involved in the crash were seat belted/restrained. Impairment is not suspected.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Garretson is investigating this crash. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information related to this crash is encouraged to contact Trooper Garretson at (775)689-4625 or kgarretson@dps.state.nv.us regarding NHP case #170101758
