Renovations at The Crossing at Tahoe Valley completed

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - Renovations on the former Factory Stores at the Y are now complete, unveiling a brand new shopping destination and contemporary lifestyle center in the heart of South Lake Tahoe named The Crossing at Tahoe Valley.

Six new tenants are either opened, or in the process of opening for business. Big 5 Sporting Goods, Styles for Less and a Band of America ATM are the only tenants remaining from the Factory Store. Sacramento area investment firm Sutter Capital Group owns the building at the intersection of Highway 50/Lake Tahoe Blvd. and Emerald Bay Road, also known as the Y.

The multi-million-dollar project includes unique, thoughtful design features intended to serve both South Lake Tahoe locals and visitors. At the corner of the new center is a 4,000 square foot communal outdoor plaza with seating, performance stage, fire pits and an embedded snowmelt system. The contemporary-alpine facade puts a new look on the center which also has an on-site water retention basin system.

“We took the time to engage with local stakeholders in order to design a center that would truly meet the needs of the community,” said Burke Fathy, Managing Partner of Sutter Capital Group. “It became clear that this part of South Lake Tahoe was lacking slightly elevated, necessity-based retail options and lifestyle oriented business from wellness to healthy dining options.”

Six new tenants have opened, or are in the process of opening for business at The Crossing:

- Elevate Wellness: a holistic family medicine practice (www.elevate-wellness.com/home)
- Omni Tahoe: a hot yoga, pole, barre and dance studio (www.omnitahoe.com)
- Verde Mexican Rotisserie: organic Mexican restaurant (www.restaurantmeyersca.com)
- Lake Tahoe Aleworx Taproom and Pizzeria: a local owned brewery which opens directly onto the communal plaza (www.laketahoealeworx.com)
- Sierra at Tahoe: marketing and ticketing office for the popular and locally owned ski resort (www.sierraattahoe.com)
- T-Mobile: cell phone sales and service

Fathy said they listened to the strong local demand for lifestyle oriented businesses in addition to high quality retail offerings. Sutter chose to demolish a portion of the center in order to create a truly unique and engaging outdoor space where people can gather to both enjoy The Crossings’ many amenities, as well as the beauty of the surrounding natural landscape and views of Mt. Tallac.

People will be able to access the planned Tahoe Valley Greenbelt Project from the outdoor plaza.

Bordering the plaza is one of The Crossing’s newest tenants: Lake Tahoe Aleworx (read South Tahoe Now on Friday for more on this unique new restaurant, taproom and craft brewery).

“Our first round of new tenants are an excellent group of the high quality, predominately local-owned businesses that share our progressive vision and that we hope to continue partnering with," said Fathy. "We are very proud of this project, from a design perspective but also very much because of the quality of the incoming tenant base, and are eager to continue building on the phenomenal momentum the project has gathered thus far.”

Fathy noted that Sutter is continuing to actively curate the optimal tenant mix for The Crossing and are currently seeking qualified prospective tenants for a hair salon and/or barber shop, nail salon and art gallery concepts.

To further distinguish The Crossing, Sutter will also be issuing a request for local artists to submit their qualifications and ideas for a large scale art installation to replace the existing art piece affronting the intersection of Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay Boulevards.

The Crossing at Tahoe Valley is located at 2012 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe. More information can be found at www.crossingattahoevalley.com.
