COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say there were 20 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Thursday with 11 in the Lake Tahoe region, four in El Dorado Hills, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, two in Greater Placerville, and two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue.

There were three new recoveries leaving 95 active cases. Two people were released from local hospitals, leaving three hospitalized and one in the ICU. There are also two suspected COVID-19 cases in the ICU.

There have been 236 additional tests given.

The majority of these are community-acquired and more than half are also from the Lake Tahoe region. County officials are saying: Please don't travel to Tahoe for fun this weekend. Please wear your face covering, wash your hands stay at least 6 feet from others when out & don't celebrate the holiday weekend with those outside your household.

Compliance with these easy directives could mean the difference between businesses staying open and having to shut down again.

County-wide there have been 226 cases with 112 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting eleven new positive cases and two additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 372, with 260 recoveries and seven deaths, 105 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 70’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 70’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 159 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County since Thursday.

Active cases: 1,129 (+110)
Currently hospitalized: 84 (-1)
Cases who have discharged from hospital: 231 (+4)

38 (+6) of the confirmed cases to date are in Incline Village with 11 (+6) active ones, and one recovered case in Crystal Bay.

Placer County

There have been 32 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Thursday, with none of those new cases in the Lake Tahoe area.
