Local man dies in South Lake Tahoe motorcycle vs. truck crash

4:13 p.m. UPDATE: The driver of the truck involved in Thursday's fatal crash is a 63-year-old male from South Lake Tahoe. As investigators worked at the scene, Lake Tahoe Boulevard was closed to all traffic for about 2.5 hours from Takela Drive to Fairway Avenue.

"South Lake Tahoe Police Department appreciates the public’s patience during the closure/detour," said Lt. David Stevenson. "The Police Department would also like to thank CHP and Cal Trans for assisting with traffic control. We would also like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased."

The identity of the deceased has not been released.

A 32-year-old South Lake Tahoe man died Thursday, July 26, after his motorcycle crashed into a truck on Highway 50.

At about 6:15 a.m., a pick-up truck was making a left turn from Johnson Boulevard onto Highway 50. At the same time, the motorcyclist was eastbound on the highway and crashed into the truck.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The driver of the pick-up truck stopped immediately and has been cooperating with authorities. No drugs or alcohol are believed to have played a cause.

Traffic was diverted around the scene for over two hours.

At this time the name of the victim is being withheld due to notification of all relatives.

The crash is still under investigation and there is no more information currently available.
