The foundation’s grants support enrichment programs that hit all academic areas from the arts to sciences. The 2017 grant request cycle which just closed in September resulted in the highest ever funding request from district teachers of more than $100,000. The foundation is a public, non-profit organization run by a 24 member volunteer board and operates with no administrative costs.

“This last grant request cycle really illustrated how fundamental the Ed Foundation is for the school district, and has motivated us as a board even more to get the word out and raise the money needed to make these programs possible for students,” said Michelle Ramirez, foundation board president.

Founded in 1989, Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation supports the educational programs and needs of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. The money is raised through Snow Sports week in February, an annual mail solicitation, and through the group’s signature fundraiser in October the Food Fest.
