Weidinger Public Relations of Lake Tahoe wins top honors

Weidinger Public Relations was presented with four awards by the Public Relations Society of America, Sierra Nevada Chapter at the organization’s 28th annual Silver Spike Awards recently held in Reno. They won the prestigious “Judge’s Choice Award,” denoting Northern Nevada’s best overall campaign.

The firm’s work with the American Century Championship on behalf of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and NBC Sports in collaboration with The Vizion Group, Berwyn, PA, earned two Silver Spike Awards, the organization’s highest honor. The first recognition was for outstanding achievement, far-reaching client results, and high standards for quality of work and ethics on the annual celebrity golf tournament. The second Silver Spike noted it as the best overall campaign in Northern Nevada out of all entries.

A judge for the American Century Championship effort stated, “This campaign is a model for the profession. Measurable objectives, relevant research, demonstrable results, and national media placements – all stemmed from a comprehensive and well-thought-out plan put in motion by communicators who understood emerging opportunities.”

A third Silver Spike was presented for Operation Sierra Storm, the annual meteorologist’s conference at Tahoe South. Sponsored by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority, Heavenly Mountain Resort and area hospitality partners, the event attracted broadcast coverage in national markets complementing overall efforts to promote the area as a leading winter destination.

An Award of Excellence was designated for efforts on behalf of the Gene Upshaw Memorial Fund – Tahoe Forest Hospital Health System Foundation. More than $800,000 over five years has been raised to finance pancreatic cancer research and provide quality medical treatment and care for cancer patients and their families at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center in Truckee, Calif.

The designations recognized northern Nevada’s best communications practices and professionals with agencies, firms and businesses throughout the Sierra Nevada area for campaigns in the past year.

“We’re proud of the awards, but more importantly of the results achieved for our clients,” said Phil Weidinger, Chief Incite Officer and Principal. “Creativity and enthusiasm are part of our daily task. We’re lucky to practice what we love and pleased that it’s reflected in our outcomes.”
