SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 185 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 58 are in El Dorado Hills, 32 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 11 in North County, 11 in Greater Placerville, nine in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 13 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, four in South County, 51 in Lake Tahoe region. There four less awaiting address confirmation (total still awaiting address confirmation is 14).

One of those new cases, 17 are under the age of 18, 96 are aged 18-49, 40 are aged 50-64, and 32 aged 65 or older.

Blue Ribbon Awards winners announced during virtual awards show

Of those, 15 are in El Dorado Hills, five in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, four in North County, one in South County, eight in Greater Placerville, eight in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and 11 in Lake Tahoe region.

One of those new cases, three are under the age of 18, 31 are aged 18-49, 15 are aged 50-64, and three aged 65 or older.

Another 374 people were tested for the coronavirus and 322 negative tests results were received.

New stop signs installed on South Lake Tahoe streets to improve safety

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There are three new stop signs in the Rocky Point neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe in response to complaints about speeding vehicles and unclear lines of sight.

Last week City of South Lake Tahoe Public Works staff installed stop signs at Chonokis Road and Rocky Point Road, and on Montreal Avenue at Moss and Fern roads.

The City hired a traffic engineer to do an assessment of the conditions after they received complaints and requests to look at speeders using the neighborhood to bypass Highway 50/Lake Tahoe Boulevard through the casino corridor.

In the days before television, the internet, cell phones and video games, families would gather around the radio each evening and listen to Sorry Wrong Number, Moon Over Morocco, Dragnet, The Adventures of the Thin Man, The Shadow, Flash Gordon, and War of the Worlds.

Suspicious device found along South Lake Tahoe bike trail

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A portion of the bike trail between Pope Beach and West Way was closed Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious device was found near the bridge.

A concerned person who thought the device could be a pipe bomb called the El Dorado County Sheriff who responded along with Lake Valley Fire and South Lake Tahoe Fire. The device was suspicious enough that patrol called the county's EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) who came in from Placerville.

USFS facilities around Lake Tahoe start seasonal closures

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit has begun closing recreational facilities for the winter season. Seasonal closures apply to many National Forest recreation sites in the Tahoe Basin including beaches, campgrounds, picnic areas and forest roads.

Lake Tahoe area firefighters at scene of small fire above Chimney Beach

6:00 p.m. Update - The Thunder Fire is contained and is in mop-up status thanks to a quick response by local, state and federal firefighters. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Note: Mop-up means to extinguish or remove burning material near control lines, fell snags, and trench logs to prevent rolling after an area has burned, to make a fire safe, or to reduce residual smoke.

New date for workshop on future plans for 56-acre project in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The public is being invited to give input on the 56-Acre Project in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. As the City of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County work out the financial arrangement of using county land, plans are underway for how it will look. Through a grant, the California Tahoe Conservancy gave the funds needed to create the master plan for the area.

City Manager commits to improving the Regan Beach area and making it safer

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Regan Beach in South Lake Tahoe has been a problem spot for Al Tahoe area residents this year, with late night parties, speeding on Lakeview Avenue, and illegal use after hours.

South Lake Tahoe City Manager Joe Irvin sat down recently with residents around the city-owned Regan Beach to find out what could be done to improve the current situation.

"I am committed to improving the park," said Irvin of the new plans with safety at the forefront.

Workshop on future plans for 56-acre project in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is a new date for the public meeting on the 56-Acre Project in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. As the City of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County work out the financial arrangement of using county land, plans are underway for how it will look. Through a grant, the California Tahoe Conservancy gave the funds needed to create the master plan for the area.

Tahoe Bicycle Coalition and Tahoe Fund collaborate on new bike racks around lake

Due to the collaboration of the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition and Tahoe Fund, over 100 more racks were installed in town centers in the Tahoe Basin this summer. Together, the nonprofits have worked together to install nearly 450 bike racks during the past three years, offering secure parking for 900 bikes.

With a grant from the Tahoe Fund and matching contributions from local businesses, the nonprofit Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition completed the third phase of its efforts to create secure bike parking within the Tahoe Basin.

COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another eight residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, four are in El Dorado Hills, one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, one in Greater Placerville; one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in the Lake Tahoe region

Of the new cases, three are under the age of 18, two are aged 18-49, two aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.

Another 101 people were tested for the coronavirus and 93 negative tests results were received.

COVID-19 case update for area counties: Lake Tahoe moves into high/red tier

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another two residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, one is in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue and one in the Lake Tahoe Region.

The new cases: Both are aged 50-64.

Another 201 people were tested for the coronavirus and 199 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 9 assumed recoveries with 126 assumed active cases.

There is currently one COVID-19 ICU patient at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and two suspected cases in the hospital.
