Friends of the Library host holiday gift wrapping party

Love to shop but don't like to wrap? The Lake Tahoe Branch of the El Dorado County Library and the Friends of the Library will come to the rescue with a gift wrapping party, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
The party also serves as a fundraiser for the library. Because of the failure of Measure L, the library's book budget is frozen. Donations of $2 per gift are requested for the party. All proceeds go to Friends of the Library and are used to support the library.

The South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Booster Association will host its 2nd annual special fundraising event ‘Stars Night Out’ on Friday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. The fundraiser dinner is $30 per person and will take place at South Tahoe High School.
Participants can purchase their discounted ‘White Christmas’ show ticket for $10 at the theatre where they will be seated in a special section (show ticket not included with dinner fundraiser). Catering by the STHS Culinary Arts and entertainment by the STHS music department.

Alpine Animal Hospital is proud to announce that we are continuing our 22-year tradition of offering the “Holiday Cheer Nail Trim Promotion” to benefit Christmas Cheer through the month of December.
We have raised over $29,000 and lots of canned food in the past years for Christmas Cheer. Last year alone, our “Holiday Cheer Nail Trim Promotion” raised over $2,000.

The South Tahoe Cancer League Annual See's Candy Sale is now underway.
This year, we will be at the shopping center at the Y, next to Starbuck's, open from 10 am to 5:30 pm daily.
All proceeds go to help support our local cancer patients who need rides to treatment, and other help generally not covered on any insurance.

Ernie's Coffee Shop will hold a fundraising dinner on Friday, Nov. 9 from 5-8 pm for Chris Alper. Chris, a 33 year South Lake Tahoe local, was recently diagnosed with a recurrence of breast cancer. Two surgeries last month have left her in need of assistance with medical bills and living expenses during her recuperation and treatment. Squaw Valley Opens for One-Day Fundraiser

Skiers and riders got to head down the mountain at Squaw Valley on Thursday. The resort opened for just four hours for a one-day fundraiser that marked the earliest Squaw Valley has opened to the public since it started keeping records in 1960.
At Squaw Valley, it's a bluebird day. And one for the record books.
"Yeah, this is the earliest we've been open to the public since our records dating back to 1960," says Jenny Kendrick, Public Relations manager for Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows.
But then again, this hasn't been a typical October, thanks to this week's storms.

The Lake Tahoe Regional Young Professionals will keep the fall feisty with their next mixer at the new Pub inside 968 Park Hotel, Sept. 26 from 7:30 – 10 p.m.
Pizzas, cheese and fruit platters will be bountiful throughout the evening so belly up to the bar for drink specials and sample organic New Belgium Brewery Beers, Organic wine or a cup of Joe.
Non-TRYP members who attend mixers will have a $5-10 cover fee depending on the event, while members are free.

The Hike for Housing event raises funds for affordable housing locally. Bring the family and enjoy a leisurely stroll (2 miles) around Spooner Lake or hike all the way to Marlette Lake (moderate hike). Pre-register by 9/10/12 for $15/pp or $25/per family. Day of the event registration is also available @ $20/pp or $30/per family. Carpooling is recommended. $8 for Nevada license plates, $10 all others for parking. Raffle items.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and employees of the state's Department of Public Safety will be at Harveys Lake Tahoe inside the Hard Rock Cafe to raise money for Special Olympics Nevada and California Saturday on Sept. 15.
The troopers will serve as volunteer waiters for the event, which will run through the lunch and dinner hours.
