The League to Save Lake Tahoe today earned a 2019 Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing metrics that highlight progress the League is making toward its mission, the organization is helping donors move beyond simplistic ways of nonprofit evaluation such as overhead ratios.

For 36 years dancers from the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio have celebrated the joy and beauty of dance during their annual recitals and starting Sunday, April 28, that tradition continues on the stage of the South Shore Room at Harrah's Tahoe.

The studio's 'Lake Tahoe’s Shining Stars', ages 2 1/2 to "young at heart" adults will dance in the recitals that showcase their talent and hard work.

Sure, I like most of the vehicles I test, but there are some that stand out. Then from those stand out motor vehicles, we can find the best of the best. Originally scheduled for the LTCC Duke Theater, the fundraiser had to move due to some broken water pipes in the theater on Tuesday.

The Vagina Monologues returns for its 17th year in South Lake Tahoe with a goal this year of raising $15,000 for scholarships for female-identified students at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Volvo brought us the XC90 in model year 2003 and it won the Motor Trend SUV of the year. It was a trick vehicle and one of my favorites, especially when equipped with the spectacular 4.4L, 311 hp Yamaha V-8 engine. It was about the perfect SUV with great styling from Volvo designer, Doug Frasher, a man responsible for many great Volvo designs including the S80.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Law enforcement and medical issues associated with the 2018 SnowGlobe Music Festival were down again on the event's second night, leading City of South Lake Tahoe staff to call the evening "another success."

After much concern from the community, staff has been working to alleviate concerns from them concerning noise and trouble for law enforcement.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - In less than one week thousands of electronic dance music and festival fans will flock to South Lake Tahoe for th eighth annual SnowGlobe Music Festival which runs December 29-31.

Before anything started to be assembled at the Community Playfields on Al Tahoe Blvd., which are home to SnowGlobe, three different types of mats went onto the field surface to protect it from damage, almost 240,000 square feet total. In 2017 the new fields suffered major damange before local youth ever got a chance to play on them, something SnowGlobe organizers repaired.

Minivans are not supposed to be hot rods or even quick. They are for hauling the family with comfortable seven to eight passenger seating (there isn’t a bad seat in this house) while still having massive cargo capacity. Or they are for going to your local Home Depot or Lowe’s and God help your credit card. I was actually able to put 12-foot-long baseboard inside this massive shipping container.

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is concluding their 13th season with a holiday production of Handel's Messiah, and there are several chances around Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada people can catch this classic.

Along with the seasonal carols the group will be performing the audience is encouraged to join in singing.

Vocal Soloists for these perfromances will include: Sopranos Joy Strotz, Maria Arrigotti, Anne Davidson and Becky Earl; Mezzo Soprano Jenna Sims; Tenors Brad Perry and Robert Bousquet; and Baritones Stuart Duke, Emzy Burroughs and Chris Nelson.

The Tahoe Choir and Lake Tahoe Community College Chorus (LTCC) will be performing "A Holiday Cornucopia" in the college's Duke Theater on Saturday, December 1 at 4:00 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for students and chidren under five are free. They are available at the LTCC Bookstore or at the door one hour before the performance.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 170-room Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe and an adjacent 3.4 acre parcel are being purchased by Braemar Hotels & Resorts, Inc for $120 million. The plot of vacant land will be used for a luxury residential townhome development.

The acquisition is expected to close between December 12, 2018 and January 15, 2019.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A weekend-long celebration of the holidays will be at the historic Valhalla Grand Hall and Boathouse Theater November 16-18, 2018.

The annual Valhalla Holiday Faire will feature a variety of local and regional arts and crafts vendors, a Grand Hall decked out in traditional holiday style, refreshments from their bar, photos with Santa and the Valhalla raffle and holiday cheer to kick off the season in true Tahoe style.

The South Shore community is coming together on November 14 at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe's Vinyl for musician Trey Stone who is now in end stage kidney failure. Stone's friends in the musical word are donating their talent for a one night event to support his efforts to heal, get on dialysis and eventually get a kidney transplant.

Tickets are $20 and there will be raffles and a silent auction.

All proceeds will go to healing Trey and helping him continue gracing the world with his talent.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As planned, the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) is changing transit routes and schedules starting November 1, 2018.

As announced in August, TTD announced an increase of services to improve access to neighborhoods including Meyers, more frequent services on busy routes and reduction of routes not meeting required performance measures.

Tahoe Arts Project has brought Missoula Children's Theater back to South Lake Tahoe November 5-10, 2018. This season's performance is Robin Hood.

All children age five and above in grades K-12 are invited to the tryouts. No advance preparation is needed.

Auditions for Robin Hood will be held on Monday, Nov. 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Tahoe Valley Elementary School's Multi-Purpose Room. There are roles for approximately 60 children in K-12th grade.

"The Track in the Forest: The Creation of a Legendary 1968 US Olympic Team" chronicles the role that the high-altitude training camp and final selection meet at Echo Summit played 50 years ago in the historic performance of the U.S. Olympic men's track and field team at the Mexico City Olympics.  Join us for a tantalizing presentation as sports journalist Bob Burns draws the curtain back sharing the incredible history of this time in Tahoe and beyond. Burns does a masterful job weaving the narratives of the men training together, vying for coveted spots on the U.S.

The 2018 Aviation Roundup at the Minden-Tahoe airport will feature the US Navy Blue Angels flying team and 11 different flying acts this weekend, October 13 and 14.

Gates for the airshow will open at 10:00 a.m. on both Saturday & Sunday, and the airshow will start around 11:30. The starting time is subject to change due to scheduling and weather, so please plan on being ready by 11:00 am.

It wraps up between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

There are vendors, food and merchandise available at the event.

Dance of Hope, a cultural music and dance-touring program from Uganda, has been in South Shore schools all week, connecting youth to the sounds of the world with passionate rhythms, sensational sounds, and exhilarating and colorful choreography.

They also stopped by Marcia Sarosik's dance studio in South Lake Tahoe to work with middle school students who will be accompanying them on the MontBleu stage Friday night during Tahoe Art's Project Dance of Hope performance.
