SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Are you looking to hire for the summer or do you have longer-term employment opportunities you'd like to promote? Lake Tahoe Community College will be hosting a job fair for students on Thursday, May 2 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Student Center.
Students will be able to attend resume writing, interview skills, and career exploration workshops, get a resume review, and participate in mock interviews during the fair. Lunch will be provided during the networking luncheon in the Creekside Room from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Every Monday, Bread & Broth (B&B) provides the opportunity to sponsor a meal through its Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) program and on Monday, April 15th, the HEROs’ organization from the Harrah’s and Harveys casinos hosted a meal in their efforts to show their support for their fellow community members.

Help celebrate the beauty of Lake Tahoe while working alongside park rangers and other members of the community to clean the beaches and spaces of Sand Harbor. Trash collected will be utilized in a new display at the Sand Harbor Visitor Center in collaboration with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection.

April 18, 2024, is the 23rd anniversary of the creation of the service club. In honor of their birthday, they are offering $1,023 to the person whose number is drawn from our drum ON the club’s anniversary.
The funds raised from this event will allow us the club to continue its financial support of various organizations in the South Lake Tahoe area.

Applications are accepted first come, first served and can be done online. The City of South Lake Tahoe and its partners, Related CA, St. Joseph Community Land Trust, and the property management company, John Stewart Company, have been sharing the lease information with those on the housing waiting list over the past few months.

It will be a free one-stop shopping event in which you can leave with a summer job!
Over 25 local businesses will be there, all looking for summer employees. TLH will help students ages 15-18 create a simple resume, complete applications, interview and complete your work permit. In 2.5 hours, students can leave with their perfect summer job.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Aktion Club will host a Bingo Night, this Friday, April 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship church at 3580 Blackwood Road in South Lake Tahoe.
The Aktion Club is a group sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra and is comprised of adults with disabilities. The local Aktion Club raises funds to help others in the community through fundraisers such as Bingo and Rummage sales. Funds from this fundraiser will help send club members to the Aktion Club District Convention in the fall.

Non-profit organizations are welcome to apply for multiple grants so long as they are in good standing with the IRS, SOS, and DOJ, qualify for what is being offered, and serve residents in El Dorado County.
All grant cycles will close on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The program began in 2011 and Vail Resort’s EpicPromise Grant has been funding 12 Adopt A Day Monday Meals annually since the program began. Over 250 Vail team members from Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort have volunteered and served others in the 132 meals the Vail EpicPromise grant has funded.

May 16 ceremony set for Lake Tahoe Unified School District Hall of Distinction

In November 2023, LTUSD asked for nominations for the program which acknowledges the outstanding achievements of former students, employees, and contributors to the school community.
After a meticulous review process, a committee of local community members selected the inaugural inductees. The committee selected three people for the Distinguished Service category, one for the Retired or Former Employee category, and one for the Former Student category.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — South Lake Tahoe’s first indoor mini golf course, Flatstick Pub, also known as Tipsy Putt, will be teaming up with Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) to give back to South Lake Tahoe’s community.

Master Gardeners news: Teaching students to grow microgreens; Grow-Your-Own Festival
Submitted by paula on Wed, 04/03/2024 - 5:01amThis UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe (LTMG) recently taught lessons on how to grow microgreens to 11 classes of third graders at four school sites within Lake Tahoe Unified School District, and the second graders at Zephyr Cove Elementary. This project is part of a larger effort to involve more students in the community in gardening. About 250 students got to plant their own microgreen seeds and learn how to grow and use them.

“What a joyful opportunity to serve and meet the many people who make South Lake Tahoe a very special place to live and recreate,” proclaimed Mary Becherer, a member of Heaven Ski Patrol. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Valley Performing Arts presents Frozen KIDS! Over 70 Tahoe Valley Elementary students are involved in the production.
Shows are Tuesday, April 2, Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4 in the Tahoe Valley Thunderbird Theater. The show starts at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Seats are first come first served unless you have purchased the reserved VIP seats.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Send it with the Heavenly Competition Teams and join them for an Apres party at Lakeview Lodge this Saturday, March 30. The event runs from 4 p.m. -7 p.m. at Lakeview Lodge. If you don't have a pass, you can still access the event via the Tram.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase and there will be a silent auction and raffle. All proceeds benefit the Heavenly Ski And Snowboard Foundation, which supports the Heavenly Competition Teams.

Alongside community festivals, litter cleanups, and an atmosphere of doing right by the planet, an important change is coming to fight pollution here at home. Beginning on Earth Day, April 22, the sale and distribution of single-use plastic water bottles under one gallon will be banned in the City of South Lake Tahoe.
