Howie Nave Movie Review on Oppenheimer: 5 out of 5 Bagels
Submitted by paula on Tue, 07/25/2023 - 10:16pmAfter seeing the epic biopic, “Oppenheimer” it becomes plainly clear that the man known as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb” caused just as much of a chain reaction in his personal life after splitting the atom. This is definitely director Christopher Nolan’s best work so far. As a fan of World War II, I feel a little embarrassed I didn’t know more about theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer other than he was involved in what was known as the Manhattan Project, which created the first atomic bomb at the Los Alamos laboratories in New Mexico.

The Road Beat ~ 2023 Lexus RC 350 AWD F Sport review: A poser's sports car
Submitted by paula on Sat, 07/22/2023 - 7:10pmLooks that signify intent, this is a source of discontent and nears embarrassment. I don't like this car. There, I said it - you can click back and move on with your life. But that would nearly be unfair to this pretend sports car from Lexus. What you're looking at is the longstanding RC coupe, now in its tenth year (!), that's been subject to The Fast and the Furious treatment with a glaringly out-of-place black hood. People will see this car and think it's fast, or that you want to race them - it happened to me - yet the truth is this is not a fast car.

Submitted by paula on Sat, 07/08/2023 - 7:25pmToyota's Tacoma pickup is one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States, but after spending another week in one, I'm left scratching my head as to why. Full disclosure, Toyota has unveiled a completely refreshed Tacoma this past month, and after seeing the new model, it becomes quite clear just how in need this truck was of a redesign. However, to Toyota corporate, they didn't have to change a thing and it'll continue to sell.

High altitude gardening: Is the Shasta daisy the poster child of Lake Tahoe?
Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/13/2023 - 11:06pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Leucanthemum × superbum, better known as the Shasta daisy, is a very popular plant at Lake Tahoe. It originated as a hybrid produced in 1890 by the American horticulturist Luther Burbank from a number of daisies. While the intergenetic crosses and multiple hybrids used to create the Shasta Daisy can be interesting to some, its hearty white flowers and relatively low maintenance may be more important to the Tahoe gardener.
If you thought a Shasta daisy was all you had to ask for at the nursery, you are wrong. There are so many varieties (or cultivars).
