Prom tuxedo rentals available at temporary Sidestreet Boutique

Both Whittell and South Tahoe High Schools will be having prom in the upcoming weeks, and those needing tuxedos and suits can get them in South Lake Tahoe and not have to travel off the hill.
The sizing, pickup, and returns of rented items will take place at 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Suite 22 in The Village Center adjacent to Ace Hardware.

Altogether, 160 agency personnel and community volunteers plus 285 students and the school staff gathered on the Lake Tahoe Community College campus for the 21st annual Drug Store Project.
This event only happens because of the support of our Tahoe community.

The speaker is Peter Goin, a UNR Foundation Professor of Art in photography and time-based media. The topic of his talk is "Lake Tahoe: A Rephotographic History."
Goin is the author of several "then and now" photography books on the Lake Tahoe region where he and his students explore photos of locations in the past and find the same spot today.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Those opposing the proposed $6,000 vacancy tax in South Lake Tahoe are invited to join others against the tax in planned protests on April 2 and April 3.
Signatures are being gathered to get the initiative on the November ballot to tax homes in the City that are vacant six months or more during the year.
A few South Lake Tahoe residents will be demonstrating against the proposed tax, a penalty for owning a vacation home and are unable to vote on the tax measure, if on the ballot.

Tahoe Art League looking for muralists and exterior business walls in South Lake Tahoe

Following up on three successful murals from last year, they are going to be doing another round of murals this year. The theme for murals in 2024 is "We Belong."
There are several high visibility walls along US50 that artists can choose from including:

The summit connects tourism industry suppliers from across the West with buyers and media from around the world.
The Lake Tahoe Visitor's Authority (LTVA) hosted the event this year, and they rolled out the blue carpet for the long list of participants. The focus of the event is to have participants learn about destinations and what they have to offer.

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) proudly hosts a lecture about Algae Blooms at Lake Tahoe: TERC, Tech, and You. This special event will feature a panel of TERC experts including Staff Research Associate Brandon Berry, PhD candidate Samantha Sharp, and Education and Outreach Director Heather Segale. The in-person event will be held at Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge in their Emerald Room. Dinners will be 20 percent off for interested guests.

VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. - The Luck of the Irish Mystery Train is coming back to the Virginia Truckee Railroad, and this time it’s a Miner Murder! Get ready for some interactive fun on Saturday, March 16, and help solve a mystery.
History tells us that the Miners of the Comstock were a rough and tumble group, hard at work underground mining for gold during the day and carousing at the Virginia City bars at night. Someone was bound to get murdered, and you get to help us find out “who done it”!
Artists sought to paint murals inside USFS restrooms at Lake Tahoe to inspire stewardship
Submitted by paula on Wed, 02/28/2024 - 3:39pmTAHOE CITY, Calif. The Tahoe Fund and USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) have announced a new collaboration. They are looking for community-based artists to “beautify” the blank interiors of the restrooms at the Stateline Fire Lookout Trail in Crystal Bay, the Logan Shoals Vista Point on Tahoe’s East Shore, and the Tallac Historic Site on the South Shore.
They hope murals depicting Tahoe’s plants, animals, and beautiful landscapes will reduce vandalism, and inspire people to take care of Tahoe.
National Forest Foundation and U.S. Forest Service launch "Nature Connects Us" campaign

This sparks the awakening and strengthening of all peoples’ connection to national forests and grasslands.
This campaign is grounded in honoring ancestral tribal homelands through respectful and mindful visitor experiences and was born out of the need to grow and understand the respect that public lands require on a deeper level.
