A strong cold front will move through the Sierra and Western Nevada beginning today through Monday with locally gusty winds expected late this afternoon and this evening, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Lake Tahoe cyclist reported down with head injury, air ambulance responds

Calstar was called to transport a 31-year-old female cyclist who was reported to have suffered head injuries in a bicycle accident at Highway 89 south of Spring Creek. Dispatch reports that a nurse said the woman was hurt and required immediate medical care. It is not known if the cyclist is part of America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride, which is an organized Sunday ride around Lake Tahoe.

Gunshot fired inside South Lake Tahoe bar, local man arrested

UPDATE 9:45AM: A single gunshot was fired inside a South Lake Tahoe bar early Sunday morning that missed patrons after an argument between two men, authorities said.
The incident happened at around 1:40 a.m. at Whiskey Dick's, 2660 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Scott William Enerson, 48, was arrested in the incident. He faces a charge of attempted murder, according to El Dorado County Sheriff's Office booking information. There were no injuries as a result of the gunfire. Minor injuries were reported that resulted from a fight.

A motorcycle accident on Highway 50 near Echo Summit was reported Saturday afternoon, with the victim suffering head injuries, according to dispatchers.
A Calstar medical helicopter was called to the scene of the accident, reported at 4:23 p.m. at Highway 50 near Camp Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man, who was reported to be conscious but bleeding from the head at the time Lake Tahoe area medics and emergency personnel arrived, was transported by Calstar, which landed near the top of Echo Summit.

Douglas County Preacher Fire burns 1,070 acres, 55 percent contained

UPDATE 10:15PM SATURDAY: Firefighters were able to get a handle on multiple fires in Douglas County that are thought to be caused by lightning in the region on Friday, officials report. As of 7:45 p.m. Saturday the Preacher Fire has burned 1,070 acres and is 55 percent contained. No structures are immediately threatened though the fire is within a half mile of structures and subdivisions.

A 12-year-old boy wearing headphones and riding a bicycle without a helmet was hurt in a collision on Thursday, South Lake Tahoe police report. The accident happened at the intersection of Lyons Avenue and Highway 50 when the boy attempted to cross against a red traffic signal.
