Forest Service seeks input for MojoMan Challenge at Heavenly Mountain Resort

Public input is sought by the U.S. Forest Service on a proposed one-time event at Heavenly Mountain Resort, called the MojoMan Challenge. This is an adventure race competition that covers approximately 10.5 miles and incorporates 25 to 30 challenge obstacles along the course that participants will negotiate.

Thunderstorms possible for Lake Tahoe then snow showers later in the week

With the potential for record-high temperatures in the mix, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon for Lake Tahoe and much of Western Nevada, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Thunderstorms could produce wind gusts to 60 mph with small hail, blowing dust and lighting. Visibility in Western Nevada could be reduced to less than a mile during the active part of the storms.
For Lake Tahoe, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

A local South Lake Tahoe neighborhood will soon have something to cheer about because on Monday, April 30 from 5:30pm to 6 pm Edgewood Companies will join City officials, families, neighbors and community members at a celebratory groundbreaking ceremony. The groundbreaking will mark the start of construction on Bonanza Park, located at 1209 Bonanza Street.

With construction equipment ready to go at the Bonanza neighborhood site of the former C&M Lodge,

Hobart Reservoir to open for 2012 fishing season

Hobart Reservoir, a small, high-mountain reservoir, located at an elevation of 7,600 feet in the mountains between Carson City and Lake Tahoe, will open for the 2012 fishing season on May 1.
Because of its high elevation and location, this reservoir is normally covered with ice, and surrounded by deep snow drifts, when it opens on May 01.
However, this year is entirely different, ice and snow-wise. It will remain open to fishing through September 30.
