Forest Service seeks input for MojoMan Challenge at Heavenly Mountain Resort
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 04/23/2012 - 10:04am
Public input is sought by the U.S. Forest Service on a proposed one-time event at Heavenly Mountain Resort, called the MojoMan Challenge. This is an adventure race competition that covers approximately 10.5 miles and incorporates 25 to 30 challenge obstacles along the course that participants will negotiate.
The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is asking for public input because the event would take place on National Forest System lands at Heavenly Ski Resort in areas that are within their special use permit boundary and would be open to the public. The proposed event would provide a high-quality summer recreation opportunity as directed by the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act of 2011. Temporary obstacles would be constructed of natural and man-made elements, including water and mud pits, cargo nets and log piles. Installation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) would occur around appropriate course obstacles and no permanent disturbance would take place.
Comments would be most helpful if received by the close of business on May 11, 2012. For more information, please contact Matt Dickinson at (530) 543-2769 or visit www.fs.usda.gov/goto/ltbmu/MojoMan.
